    Good Evening Ladies &...Ladies...?

    The Midlands Ex-Muslim group will be holding our first ever ladies event on Saturday the 28th! Smiley

    The girls will will be meeting at an establishment serving tasty treats of the sugary variety. If you like baked/iced dairy treats, why don't you come along? Expect sweet goodness in the centre of Birmingham and some damn fine company Wink

    Baked goodies with lots of sugar? AWESOME!

    A ladies only night. I thought we had got rid of gender and outdated rules on the mixing of people of different sex. Wink
    I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged. Footloose n fancy free, forced to fit, fated to fly. One or 2 words, 3 and 3/thirds, looking comely but lonely, till I made them homely.D

    We have not become acquainted.  

    My account here is old but I've only been posting a few months now Smiley  

    When the idea of a girls event was first floated, it was my friend, one of the regular girls, that said the word "cake" and it started from there. It was the girls themselves that decided and agreed on the venue. They wanted a change of scenery. There will likely be drinks afterwards anyway if people don't like sweet stuff Wink I am posting here because they are not registered on CEMB.  

    And why does the title sound like a strip club advertisement? It certainly wasn't supposed to though by this point I can see how it was read that way Smiley

    Building Ex-muslim communities is not easy. Finding Ex-Muslims is not easy. Getting Ex-Muslims to come out so that you can build a viable, self sustainable community is a gargantuan task. The beginning of that is getting the word out. And getting attention is the way to do that. That also means using every trick in the book Smiley

    If you're offended by my post, that certainly was not my intention. I'm trying my best here. 9/10 Ex-Muslims I meet tell me they'd never met another Ex-muslim til they came to one of my events. I'm proud of that. And I use whatever I can to find those Ex-Muslims. Very few people are willing to dedicate themselves to that. I would hope you might appreciate what I'm trying to do here.

    Hey, MrHappyMan, no worries. I understand how difficult it can be to organize a meetup like this and I appreciate that you are making the effort. I think a ladies only meetup is a great idea, and I'm glad to know you have a group of gals that are excited about it. Perhaps more emphasis on the company (and possibility of booze Wink ) would be more effective than the sugary stuff.

    As for the strip club advertisement, maybe it's an American thing but "GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!" in all caps with exclamation points like that brings to mind the flashing neon LIVE NUDE GIRLS signs you see outside strip clubs. Also, for me personally, being addressed or referred to as a girl is rather off-putting.

    Anyway, no offense taken, but it just seemed like a strange way to try to appeal to the women here. And in any case, I'm across the pond so I won't be going, but if I were in the area I would probably give it a shot to meet more of the ex-Muslim crowd. Afro

    That first photo set features a rather beautiful woman (I don’t know who), but she actually looks like an Asian version of Rachel Riley!

    Also, those blurred, pixellated and whited out faces might be OK online, but they’ll be immediately recognisable by their pixels out on the street! Grin

    How's your Japanese coming along, by the way?

    I've been thinking about your desire to come to university here, and what you said about the lack of courses taught in foreign languages.

    If possible, I'd get your Japanese really up to scratch and apply to a Japanese university, perhaps to read English literature or some other subject where you would have a clear advantage.

    Something tells me you should avoid the tiny gaijin ghettoes that foreign-language courses would most likely be.
