  • Born Again Christian Trying To Tell Me I am Going To Hell On Facebook
     OP - September 17, 2013, 07:48 PM

I got a 16 year old on facebook trying to tell me I am going to Hell because I am not with the born again movement. After asking me if I am religious and I replied by saying yes, she tells me God hates religion. I sent a reply stating Christianity is a religion as it has a belief system, worship and doctrine. Guess I'll ad her to the list of people who say I am going to Hell and have accused me of being a closet Atheist.

What is she then? A born again non-conformist Christian but not really a Christian because I don't believe God likes Christians but then again how can He communicate to us His Will without revealing it in a book to a Prophet and then having said Will insitutionalised in the form of a Church with Rites and Rituals thus establishing a Religion through which we are able to worship God and exercise His Will whilst propgating His Will to others and condemning others to Hell for not following His Will in the appropriate manner?

Is she that can of a religionist? Because that makes sense!  mysmilie_977

She is with the born again Christian movement. It is often associated with the Evangelical community. They basically believe their way is the true way. Born Agains state Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with God.

While Christianity is a relationship God it is also a religion as I stated before.

I think that both the wit and irony of my post went above your head.

Mate, do you believe that people who do not accept Jesus Christ as their saviour/do not believe in God will go to Hell? If so, then you're as crazy as her.

I guess so. Feeling a bit tired.

Let me put it this way:

Accepting Jesus's sacrifice will spare people from God's judgement. Those who don't believe will be judged by God.

    Not exactly.

I am open to the possibility that God judging someone does not necessarily mean that every single person will go to Hell. Basically it will be up to God.

    ^^^^^^

Which also means that you are also open to the possibility that your God that you so revere, JC, will fry my brown arse simply for the fact that I do not believe in Him because He's done such a  piss poor job with life and all that (you know kids suffering, animals needlessly in pain and ...oh that's right, the whole no evidence business).

Why would belief be the ultimate “get out of jail free" card? Surely, you must agree that there are entirely too many factors that go into determining what a person ends up believing--most of which an individual has little or no control over.

Why would God base the fate of a person’s eternal soul on such an arbitrary and silly trait like a person’s propensity for gullibility regarding particular myths? It seems rather unfair.

Eternal Hell is nasty idea (no words to explain) and often religious people are criticizing people who say that THEY are going to Hell, but ironically they don't see it as immoral or disgusting when THEY teach it.

I have a major problem with a Christian coming over to an ex-Muslim forum and laughing at all the nonsense that said about Islam whilst still maintianing their own ridiculous, prejudiced and discriminatory beliefs.

Yes my friend, and I'll continue to force them to stare into the depth of their own stupidity.

We Some here on the forum 'bash' Islam not for the sake of 'bashing' but as a carthatic and at times intellectual exercise. Not because there is some egoistic tendency to validate ones own equally nonsensensical delusions.

The reason for belief being the ultimate get out of "jail free" card is our sins will be taken up by Christ. There is also a transformation process too.

Don't we have control over what we believe?

What if they are not myths?

I thought my question was fairly clear. I don’t know how I could have made it clearer. Why would a person’s conclusions regarding the veracity of one dubious ancient story over another be God’s ultimate deciding factor?

And as for belief being a choice, this is a great video. It was prepared for a Muslim audience, but can be used to confront Christian claims to the whole “belief will save you” nonsense just as well. Let me know what you think.

Let c1981 believe what c1981 wants to believe if it makes her happy.
But why do you [c1981] come to Ex-Muslim forum to talk about this? Smiley
Since there is nothing many of us can really identify with this:
most users who have left religion see Hell as immoral and many of us users would understand if you said that this person is saying that you are going to hell and you said that Hell is disgusting.
But now this is just talk about two Christians disagreeing.

Not saying that you shouldn't write, I just cannot see the point of this thread.

C1981 is interesting to me. It’s like she almost wants to be an atheist but can’t bring herself to do it. (I’m assuming she is a girl. I think she mentioned she was, no?)

In any event, people tend to believe that they are correct, even when they are not. It’s a very human thing to do. We can’t really believe that we are wrong about our beliefs.  That is exactly why God basing your eternal fate on your  belief is such a dumb idea.

I made an analogy on here before about the US moon landing, but I think its worth repeating. When I was a teenager I watched a documentary “debunking” the moon landings. They presented pretty interesting evidence, and for a while, my faith in the moon landing was shaken. I researched a little more and found that each of the points they raised had a convincing rebuttal.

As it stands now, I pretty much believe that the United States landed on the moon. I could be completely wrong. I could just be a gullible old sap that fell for cold war propaganda, but that is what I believe. Other people have reason to believe something else based on what makes sense to them.

Now, for God to come along and say “I’m going to judge everyone who believed in the US moon landings. Those who were wise enough to not believe, you may enter into my everlasting graces” would be ridiculous beyond words.

Nobody's forcing C1981 one way or the other...I am challenging his beliefs and his motivations for joining the forum.

He needn't explain himself. That's his right. But I am very suspicious when one of God's Lunatics would spend the time and energy to join a forum of ex-God's Lunatics, particularly when it is a competitor Lunatic Faith.
