Hi Guys,

I am going to try and make this short for the sake of brevity !

I am a newb to this forum, Just thought I would introduce myself. I am from a very religious Shia family stopped believing in Islam at around age 22 after trying to strengthen my faith by studying Quran and Islamic Jurisprudence. It was a massive shock to my system so I went on Muslim autopilot until earlier this year when I decided enough is enough and stopped praying, fasting etc. Then I came out as an ex Muslim to my family and friends, subsequently lost all my friends (yay!). In ex Muslim terms I am an ancient 26 years old

I still need to de-programme myself a little. I have broken out of the whole halal taboo still need to break the fear of alcohol and the whole constantly averting my gaze thing. One of my major life goals is to be able to read a copy of the quran without wudu.

Hello, I am new, too, and I am also working on deprogramming. I have had lots of trouble with "averting the gaze" but it gets easier. Just keep practicing!
