     OP - November 04, 2013, 11:40 AM

I have just joined the forum.

I am not a Muslim or ex Muslim but I am concerned.
I have just started a new job and am concerned to see the amount of young and very zealous Muslim men.
A new generation of followers of Muhammad.

I'm seeing a brotherhood being formed at work.
I can see how appealing it must be to young men.
It concerns me that these people, or so it seems to me, want to live outside of normal society.
    It's a gang culture.
I've read about it but never seen it with my own two eyes.

Anyway I hope to keep in touch here and be able to ask advice on what is the best way to deal with this.
Should I just ignore these people?
Maybe just say good morning and leave it at that?

    Thanks for reading.
    A concerned Englishman.

Where in England do you live, and what's your job?

    Oh, and, er, howdy.

I live in the south east but would rather not say what my job is at this time.

Basically I come from a leafy suburb.

I guess my concern at work is the gang mentality and the possibility of myself getting stitched up should I fall foul of the group as happened to Nohad Halawi.
Google her name and you will find her story.

Just seen a good documentary on the Somali community in the UK.
I work with a lot of them.

Apparently Islamically speaking they are quite moderate and relaxed.
    Let's hope so anyway.

When you say you see a brotherhood being formed at work, what do you mean by that? Like a secret society, a thuggish gang, and bunch of wankers harassing you to convert, all of the above, something else?

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

A secret society bordering on a thuggish gang.

That's how it appears to me at this time.

Maybe I'm wrong but this is my first impression, time will tell if I'm right.

Some muslims do have an "us and them" mentality. I've known ex-muslims who have been told all their lives not to associate with non muslims growing up. Obviously this isn't universal though and I'd hope that changes soon.

You said that these people "are really tough and war scarred". Are they immigrants/asylum seekers?

They are many of them yes but the most concerning are the young bucks coming up.
They remind me of this guy:

Why are we tolerating these people?

Anyway in the mean time I shall finish reading this thread.

It's really enlightening and is giving me some insight into what is going on inside these peoples heads.

I still think however that no matter how much Islam is opened up to scrutiny men will always find it attractive.
I mean after all, it gives us complete power and dominion over our women folk.

This bloke has been all over the papers today so you can imagine the atmosphere of suspicion and unease at work.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24799675

Apparently the Somali's consider themselves a community under siege, MI5 trying to get people to spy on each other etc.
There was a great program about it on press TV last night.
Here's the link for those that are interested:

Blimey no wonder there are so many Somali's about, three wives and 21 children and all in a refugee camp..

Nothing better to do in the evenings I guess and I also guess contraception is haram.

I bet there is plenty of cutting going on in that camp.

No doubt it is the Christian aid agencies providing most of the relief, I doubt Islamic charities are doing anything.
    Someone please prove me wrong.

Nice to see that extremism is something ordinary Somali's are afraid of though and in that camp it seems to be a very small minority.
Let's hope the same rules apply to the UK, the fact that such a small percentage of Somali's are extremist/fanatic/Jihadist/murderers I mean.

I've always wondered if you can really have what in this part of the world we'd think of as a normal parent/child relationship with that many offspring.

    Of course not.

I doubt Sheikh what's his name thinks of his children's future at all.
The most he contributes is probably a handful of semen and then a few prayers to help the kids on their way.
Then chews some Khat and gets a hard on ready for the next instalmant.

The rest is up to Allah.

Just to put into perspective the attitude I am seeing at work amongst a lot of young Muslims.

This video puts it into perspective nicely.

Note how many hands go up when the death penalty is mentioned.

Yeah sure, my irrational suspicion of Islam and the Muslims is not justified:

    Well Another day in paradise.

Had a chat with a Zimbabwean woman and said I know another Zimbabwean man at work and she said she doesn't talk to him.
Why I asked and she said it is because she is mixed race and the man in question doesn't care for women who are mixed race and not pure Shona tribe.

Had a chat with an Indian woman from Gujarat, a Hindu and she said the trouble with this place is they have let far too many Muslims in the door.
She advised me never to get into an argument with a Muslim as I would lose.
Why I asked her and she said because they will all gang up together and FK me over, she said she had seen it done to people before.

I spent a couple of hours teaching a Jamaican man how to do a computer job and two Punjabi women  walked by and started complaining saying it was unfair.
They then started having a go at the Jamaican saying there is nothing special about him so why should he be doing the job and not them, I sensed racial undertones
    in their attitude.

Then two Sikh young men came up to me and asked if I knew a young Somali lad who had been bothering them.
The exact words were "could you tell this thing to leave us alone".

And now two African women want me to become the units union rep, I think I will pass on that one.

Not sure how long I am going to last in this job, I wonder how long it will be before I say the wrong thing.
I'm sensing that I should join one of the gangs, it's almost as if there is an unspoken question and the question is:
"Which group do you belong to?"

Kind of like a prison mentality.

Oh yeah and then paid a visit to the Pakistani family whose extension I am wiring and chatted to a couple of Pakistani women and I have to say in
all sincerity there really is something fking sexy about Pakistani women.

Sexism, religious bigotry and racism are not solely the domain of white people. Needs to be highlighted more how much of it is going on that most people aren't aware of.
