    I don't really just mean the tales, but the specific acts of worship, Dawah, preaching and propaganda books

    I know many Muslim families/communities are very insular, but I've always been fascinated by the fact that the people within never seem to to see the parallels between their beliefs and others (say Christians)

    I mean, from a Muslim perspective

    You believe that Christianity is wrong, and that praying to Jesus is blasphemy. But there are millions of people around the world that do this. There are people who feel with their heart and soul that they are communicating with Jesus when they pray, they aren't lying about it, they genuinely feel it deep down in their heart, they are often moved to tears by this, they feel the spirit of communion, it governs a massive part of their every day lives

    If someone can be so utterly and completely convinced down to their very core about the nature of God and reality, yet be so completely fundamentally wrong, then why can't that person be you?

    I mean the very nature of asserting that another religion is wrong (Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism) means that on some level you acknowledge the fact people have the capacity on a large scale to be entirely wrong about whatever faith they choose, but this isn't ever applied to oneself?

    Do Muslims not understand that the EXACT same 'scientific miracles' claim was made and is still being made by Christianity?



    (I understand the last one probably won't be realised because it's not as if Muslims will be brought up and research Christianity)

    Can people not see the ridiculous similarities between the Christian & Muslim televangelists?

    It's mind boggling (I know it's true the other way round too...but this IS the CEMB...)

    Sure, and I didn't care for a long time. It was easier to see the flaws with their religion, and explain away those flaws in my religion.

    I think the similarities actually made me more of a believer, because I swallowed all the apologist teachings about people of the book being close to us and Christianity and Judaism just being born of an earlier message of an earlier Prophet.
    I had little exposure to much else besides these Monotheistic Three, and rationalized that I did not know enough about anything else to compare.

    The similarities of the faiths were explained to us as a sort of proof that all three Abrahamic religions were divinely connected, and from the same creator.  Later on I came to realize it was nothing more than obvious undivine plagiarism.

    The similarities between all three so called monotheistic religions are superficial. Jews, Christians and Muslims - each have their own God. Each God wants to be number one. Each God wants His followers to worship Him only. Each God is psychopath and narcisstic is His own way.

    For Jews, Christian and Islamic beliefs are blasphemous. For Christians, Jewish and Islamic beliefs are blasphemous. For Muslims, Jewish and Christian beliefs are blasphemous. All there religions divide the humanity into true believers and infidels (kafirs). Jews and Christians have learned to accept the doctrine of live and let live. Muslims have not, not yet anyway.

    This is similar to Greek, Etruscan and Roman religion but in the form of adaptation and assimilation rather than a continuation of the Big A's. Greeks developed their religion, Etruscans assimilated the religion during Greece's phase of colonization of Sicily, Massilia and southern Italy. The religion was modified to fit culture norms of the new culture. Rome assimilated both into it's own culture and modified it to fit cultural norms. Judaism - Canaanite and post-Babylonian exile Judaism, Christianity - post-exile Judaism and Hellenistic culture, Islam - Christian, Judaism and Arabian. The new religions are a continuation of culture adaptation more than anything else. Heck the overall plot of Jesus' story is repeated a few times by Iron Age Greek gods with the details changed but not salvation, sacrifice, confrontation of evil, etc.

    There's a lot of this that happened with me. I'm sure there's a psychological term for it.

    When I look back now though, the biggest ones are:

    1. We used to mock Christianity because they 'changed their books'. Yet, when we look at Islam's history, it becomes clear that the Koran itself was assembled in a less than perfect way, and EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY, the hadith were assembled much like the Christian books. Just important religious scholars picking and choosing the texts they wished to incorporate into the religion. Of course they were influenced by their own biases, political agenda...

    2. We used to mock Christianity (well Catholics) because they had a pope and needed someone there between them and God. With Islam you are directly responsible and capable of understanding the religion. But the more I looked at it, the more I saw that Islam has a greater dependence on Popes than even Catholics. People sit around asking 'scholars' for fatwas on what is permissible. That consumes Muslim life. People have accepted the 4 schools of sunni Islam as essential Gospel. Heck, you can't even talk religion with many Muslims if you haven't become an expert in Arabic and studied in Saudi. Almost seems like the old days of Catholics and their dependence on Rome and Latin eh Tongue

    Yes, why do not all muslim men and women go around issuing their own fatwas?  On the judgement day it is between you and Allah, not some mullah or your mum or dad!

    Or is that too Protestant and Greek - priesthood of all believers?

    I felt similar to three, the more I found linked to other religions the more it reinforced my faith that it all came from one source. Like i'd always post links and links to Christianity and when I found out how old jews prayed I got over excited that it looked like salah

    That's because it reinforces the 'Allah sent a prophet to every nation narrative'. Funny how every nation is restricted to the MIDDLE FUCKING EAST!!

    No mention of the rain dance, or shamanistic chanting or any other such 'exotic' ritual that would constitute worship/prayer in the natives tongue.
    No free mixing of the sexes is permitted on these forums or via PM or the various chat groups that are operating.

    I always did see the parallelism between these religions.
    They all behave in the same way, which is why They led me out of Darkness.
    How can the same God change his mind every time?
    Each of these abrahamic religions negates the validity of one another.
    And these religions are development of very old ideologies.
    As we know ideologies come out of the human mind, I realized every religion was man-made  Tongue
