    I watched some of it. I'll watch the rest tomorrow. I zoned out during Ken Ham's case for creatardation. It's just so fucking dated and dumb.

    I watched it and will sum it up. Ham's answers were pretty much "God did it" and "the bible says" Lines that have been repeated for centuries.

    I actually quite enjoyed it.

    Ken Ham did a great job of showing the world the truly paltry selection of contrived evidence and weak arguments that supports his radical conclusions, and showing that he has no answer at all for the questions that the whole purpose of his philosophy is to answer absolutely.

    Bill Nye did a great job of making the case for an older universe and evolution by natural selection and kept on point instead of being drawn into Ham's bait-and-switch tactics. And I actually learned a thing or two, which is what it's all about for me. It used to be about humiliating religious dumbfucks. But I'm more satisfied these days when someone has something to teach me.

    For some reason I thought Ken Ham would do a better job. He's been in the game for so long that I thought his case for creation would be more sophisticated and well-researched by now.

    There were many atheists saying Bill Nye should not have debated Ken Ham because just being willing to debate Ken Ham would give him credibility.

    I think that if even one person becomes scientifically literate as a result of this debate it was worth it.

    In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

    Bill stayed focused and on topic. I agree with you about his approach to the debate. Also his humour wasn't used as a blunt instrument which to bludgeoned the opposition with.

    I see interesting results whenever I debate with the Muslim creationists at my school. I've had one person come up to me saying they believe in natural selection and speciation but not evolution  banghead. It's as if they've been programmed to have a knee jerk reaction when they hear the word "evolution". The worst part is some of these students take biology.

    Kudos for Bill for having the patience to tolerate so much bullshit.

    I know several muslims who are doing their biology undegrad while being fervent creationists.


    As far as I know they either deliberately misunderstand it in their head while it is begin taught to them or they just think "la la la" and zone out during that portion of class.

    They are not going to become anything more than doctors though at best.

    Unfortunately, the education system barely teaches students on the scientific process and definitions of scientific laws and theories. I don't know how many times I face palmed upon hearing evolution is just a theory.

    Also many of these students intend to do medicine or engineering, Studies show that the highest percent of scientists who deny evolution are in the fields of medicine and engineering. The reason is probably because these applied sciences do not put much emphasis on the scientific method. Also, unsurprisingly, these fields also have the highest ratio of religious folk when compared to the natural sciences.
