    Im almost finished with Maajid Nawaz's memoir and im sad its about to end. Its the best book ive read in 2014.
    anybody else read it? What are your thoughts on it?

    I have an idea we on this forum should have a book club!

    Okej!
    The best part is when maajid iz imprisoned in egypt and waiting for his number to be called nr42 to be interrogated ( toutured). The prisoner before him nr 41 starts to cry and begs Maajid to help him.

    It was painful, heartbreaking to hear a proud man broken like this. His sons were the sound of someone whom al-Gihaz had worked its twisted magic on. The only thing i could do for him was to recite for him, to recite a passage from the qur'an. Slowly and ever so quietly, so low that only he and i could hear, i willed my voice to utter the sounds of allahs words. What i recited to him there, on that day of torture, before he was called upon to sacrifice himself fee sabeelillah, is a passage called al burooj.

    By the heaven, holding the big stars .

    And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection);

    And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah];

     Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King).

     Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel,

    When they sat by it (fire),

     And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them).

     They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise!

    Who, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything.

    I hope he's okay. His family has had death threats both in the UK and in PKLand.

    Clegg gave his support to Maajid Nawaz, and in a desperate move to salvage things Mohammed Shafiq released a joint statement by him and Nawaz.

     `Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
     `How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
     `You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

    What a bloody cop out! I heard Paddy Ashdown talk of this:

    Quote
    We are both Liberals and support the principle of freedom of speech. But we also understand the importance of respect for others’ views and of moderation of language. In so far as this second principle of moderate language has been breached in the heat and passion of the current debate, we regret this and call for all those who have differing views to ensure that any debate which continues on this subject should use language and attitudes which conform to Liberal standards of respect and moderation.

    What immoderate language did Nawaaz use?

    GRRRRRR  finmad

    But how immoral and stupid of the Lib Dems to force Nawaaz to accept that?

    It jsut shows the kind of pressure that Nawaaz must've been under.

    Dear oh dear. Just look at how much fear controls people. Majid is, in my opinion, an extremely brave man. Those who want him hurt or dead are those he is wanting to help most, ironically. Sad to think that this is a reality for everyone to a greater or lesser extent.
