    I think it's moronic that to say that tiki taka is dead. I know it's a style of play that infuriates a lot of people but everyone should't let that cloud their judgement. This is the decline of personnel, and not of a footballing philosophy. Besides, Spain didn't even play much tiki taka tonight and during the tournament overall. They played nothing like their Euro 2012 bore-the-other-team-to-death selves.

    I enjoy watching the teams and fans sing the national anthem pre match, they sing so passionately and know all the words, so i'm looking forward to watching england tonight struggle with "god save our queen".. I dont know my own national anthem either.. :/

    No, Ireland didn't qualify, our team is a bit shite at the moment.  They're all very young and new though, so hopefully they'll be a decent team in time for the European Championship in 2016.

    If England beat Costa Rica, and Italy win their next two games, England can still get through to the next round, so all is not lost yet.   Smiley

    I'd blame the Greeks for their approach of bunkering after going down to 10 men. Although the Japanese were notably lacking that extra bit of quality needed to break through. No lack of industry or determination though, which is hopeful to see.

    Only on goal difference.
    So far we have
    England 2
    Italy 2
    Uruguay 3
    Costa Rica 3

    Let's assume that England beat costa rica 1-0 or 2-1 (depending on how shit Baynes and defence is)
    That will level out England and Costa Rica to 4.

    I predict 3-2 between Italy and Uruguay. That gets Uruguay's goal total up to 5.

    Tomorrow, I'd say 3-1 to Italy.

    So then we have
    England 3/4
    Italy 8.
    Costa Rica 5
    Uruguay 5. Uruguay will qualify due to more goals being scored in one match.

    This is a big if, if england score three goals when they play Costa Rica they might have a chance of getting through. Not bloody likely though.

    We'll have to see what happens tomorrow.

    Outside of Honda and Kagawa I saw little evidence of it. All basic and straightforward play. Moved the ball side to side, used fullbacks for width, then inexplicably whipped in crosses despite having no tall physical strikers.  Huh?
