  • Raja Bhoj, witness of the moon splitting?
     OP - June 26, 2014, 03:18 PM

So I've been reading a bit, and found out there is supposedly another "witness" of the moon splitting "miracle". His name is Raja Bhoj.

The claim goes as follows: "The denouncers of this miracle said they could not get any reference to the splitting of the moon in the books if history. They detailed answer to it can be found in Tarjuman al Sunnah (Vol.4.pp. 165, 166). It has also printed the map showing day and night at that hour in the world. It was almost midnight in India. In the 7th century, King Bhoj of India has said to have sighted the splitting of the moon, which finds mentioned in Tafsir Haqqani. Ibn Khatir also mentioned this report in his work Al-Bidaya wa Al-Nihaya without naming the King, and said: This event was recorded in the history of some part of India and that was written in history as the night of splitting of the moon. (Vol.3.p.120). this means the report of Raja Bhoj had become so famous in those days that it travelled to Damascus where Ibn-Khatir jotted it down in his famous and most reliable history book."

And there's also something that says it was a prophecy in Hindu scriptures?: "This is a Sanskrit work of prophecies. The title means ‘Book of the Future’. Since Hinduism is based in India it was, and still is, taken for granted that its sages will be born in India itself. Contrary to this belief the Book says that a great master will appear in a foreign country (mlechcha acharya) and live in a sandy region (marusthal). His name will be Mahaamad. Within a short span of 18 couplets Mahaamad is mentioned five times. There is an interesting information in Bhavishya Purana that Mahaamad would appear to Bhoj, ruler of Dhar, and say that he would establish the religion of meat eaters, by the command of Ishwar i.e. God.  There is a tradition that long afterwards, Bhoj got terrified on seeing the full moon split into two. Learned men consulted holy books and told him that it was one of the signs of the Universal Master to be born in a country to the West. Bhoj sent his minister to Prophet (Pbuh) in Arabia, who named the king Abdullah. The Tomb of Abdullah is still there at Dhar."

(The first paragraph was from some Quran and science google site, the second was from a site titles "neuro therapy of christian brain" although it is not a christian website. It would not let me post links)

I am not sure how to look at this or what to think. Could this be debunked or anything?

Did you read the rest of the post?

it is NOT worth reading with reference to Islam/early Islamic history  as it has no connection with Quran or even hadith..     On religions,  people from Indian subcontinent are smart  story tellers with little truth in it and they give very little historical facts..  And..and there are 2billion of them, most of them are strong believers of religions without facts and  unsupported claims.

Maybe search in the Hindu scriptures yourself then, and see if it is in there, also look up the historical data being claimed here.

Since that link provides the name of a different Indian king having witnessed it, and further make references to historical Indian documents that associate that with him.

Seems to me that if you want to debunk it, you need to go to the actual sources being claimed yourself.  You make reference to
    Quote
Ibn Khatir also mentioned this report in his work Al-Bidaya wa Al-Nihaya without naming the King,

So could be its a different king, when different muslim sources claim it was seen.

    http://sservi.nasa.gov/?question=evidence-moon-having-been-split-two

Bhavishya Purana which makes Mo out to be anything but the good guy in this. Read it all and ask if this is really Mo Muslims want to be. He is a demon and brings a false religion to corrupt people.

(I have edited the text to conform to the "believed" Mo and Islam prophecy by adding or changing associated names. The unedited text is in the link)

Shri Suta Gosvami said: In the dynasty of king Shalivahana, there were ten kings who went to the heavenly planets after ruling for over 500 years. Then gradually the morality declined on the earth. At that time Bhojaraja was the tenth of the kings on the earth. When he saw that the moral law of conduct was declining he went to conquer all the directions of his country with ten-thousand soldiers commanded by Kalidasa. He crossed the river Sindhu and conquered over the gandharas, mlecchas, shakas, kasmiris, naravas and sathas. He punished them and collected a large ammount of wealth. Then the king went along with Mahamada (Muhammad), the preceptor of mleccha-dharma, and his followers to the great god, Lord Shiva, situated in the desert. He bathed Lord Shiva with Ganges water and worshipped him in his mind with pancagavya (milk, ghee, yoghurt, cow dung, and cow urine) and sandalwood paste, etc. After he offered some prayers and pleased him.
Suta Goswami said: After hearing the king’s prayers, Lord Shiva said: O king Bhojaraja, you should go to the place called Mahakakshvara, that land is called Vahika and now is being contaminated by the mlecchas. In that terrible country there no longer exists dharma. There was a mystic demon named Tripura (Tripurasura), whom I have already burnt to ashes, he has come again by the order of Bali. He has no origin but he achieved a benediction from me. His name is Mahamada (Muhammad) and his deeds are like that of a ghost. Therefore, O king, you should not go to this land of the evil ghost. By my mercy your intelligence will be purified. Hearing this the king came back to his country and Mahamada (Muhammad) came with them to the bank of the river Sindhu. He was expert in expanding illusion, so he said to the king very pleasingly: O great king, your god has become my servant. Just see, as he eats my remnants, so I will show you. The king became surprised when he saw this just before them. Then in anger Kalidasa rebuked Mahamada (Muhammad) “O rascal, you have created an illusion to bewilder the king, I will kill you, you are the lowest..."

That city is known as their site of pilgrimage, a place which was Madina or free from intoxication. Having a form of a ghost (Bhuta), the expert illusionist Mahamada (Muhammad) appeared at night in front of king Bhojaraja and said: O king, your religion is of course known as the best religion among all. Still I am going to establish a terrible and demoniac religion by the order of the Lord . The symptoms of my followers will be that they first of all will cut their genitals, have no shikha, but having beard, be wicked, make noise loudly and eat everything. They should eat animals without performing any rituals. This is my opinion. They will perform purificatory act with the musala or a pestle as you purify your things with kusha. Therefore, they will be known as musalman, the corrupters of religion. Thus the demoniac religion will be founded by me. After having heard all this the king came back to his palace and that ghost (Muhammad) went back to his place.

The intelligent king, Bhojaraj established the language of Sanskrit in three varnas - the brahmanas, kshatriyas and vaisyas - and for the shudras he established prakrita-bhasha, the ordinary language spoken by common men. After ruling his kingdom for 50 years, he went to the heavenly planet. The moral laws established by him were honored even by the demigods. The arya-varta, the pious land is situated between Vindhyacala and Himacala or the mountains known as Vindhya and Himalaya. The Aryans reside there, but varna-sankaras reside on the lower part of Vindhya. The musalman people were kept on the other side of the river Sindhu.

On the island of Barbara, Tusha and many others also the followers of Isamsiha were also situated as they were managed by a king or demigods

Yup it happens when people accept stories which conform to their presupposition and religious bias. No one checks sources anymore, they just accept it.

I just wanted to provide some sources so people can read it for themselves. If they accept the authority of Nakir without question, they must accept the authority of the original text itself when it clear says something else.

Mohammad splitting the moon. Now this I can't prove to be false,  but I can weight it against other things. People throughout the world at this point gazed at the stars. The Greeks, the Romans, the Chinese, they all had wonderful astronomers who mapped out the night sky. Certain claims by one society are matched by claims in another. Ancient Greeks for example would leave records of things they observed, shooting stars, eclipses, things that would last seconds or minutes, the same claims found with other peoples they had no contact with. Both recorded things matched by the other. So it's reasonable to assume that if Mohammad split the moon and then joined it together again, someone somewhere would have also noticed apart from a few Arabs in the desert. Maybe the rest of the world was on holiday, but I doubt it. I have to say this isn't true.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
