    Hi everyone!

    I stumbled upon this forum with no intention of joining but after lurking around a bit and seeing some posts which grabbed my attention, I just had to join!

    Just a bit about myself, I am born and raised in London, currently 25 years old (turning 26 in a few days time!) and grew up in a moderate Islamic household.

    I am what you would call a "doubting muslim". Seeing as it's Ramadan, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to understand Islam from both a critical and neutral point of view. Like most people, it was difficult to accept that what I was reading about Islam was true, how violent and misogynistic it is and how many things just simply do not make sense to me.It's also sad how good people on this earth who die as a non muslim, would supposedly burn in hell! What's even more frustrating is it's hard to find people who would understand what I'm saying as they will simply not accept that Islam is false. This is part of the reason why it's difficult to leave, as my family and my community are practicing muslims and doing so will make my life really difficult.

    It's amusing how Ramadan seems to attract more members than any other month. I thought the shayateen were supposed to be all chained up!  grin12

    Other than growing up in London (southern USA for mine), I think we have a lot in common. Left Islam for the same reasons of misogyny and senselessness of eternal punishment for a vast majority of the earth's population. Grew up in a moderate household myself, and parents have been surprisingly accepting when I came out to them as no longer Muslim.  dance

    Also turning 26 soon, we are old geezers now.  Tongue

    Haha really? It's good to know there's people out there who are looking at Islam from a different perspective, especially during this month and it's not just me!

    You have definitely come to the right place. Anti-Muslim bigots seem to get tossed out very quickly so you won't find much of that here.

    I am also a recent addition to this forum, and the problems for me stemmed from a lack of spirituality within the religion. It's all about victory, politics, booty, women and destruction of the other. Muhammed is more of a war lord than a holy man. Compare him with Jesus( for example), or Buddha and the difference is almost embarrassing.

    i think its because the amount of islamic bullshit is increasing during this holy month. you know, more and more ulama showing their superstitious belief in TV, radio, even social media. they think they can get more saved soul but it turns out the opposite.
