    It's not a soft and bearable mystery though. It's a jagged, jarring conflict involving all of the most profound suffering in the world. To live with it comfortably is obscene.

    Bayesian updating > sceptical theism

    That is to say that the evidential problem of evil is more likely on naturalism than on theism.

    Imo, the guy making the God is mysterious argument has (unsuccessfuly) attempted to argue the reverse.

     Yeah, I would agree, though my thoughts are nascent.
    I've never really thought of the problem of evil outside of theism.

    The evidential problem of evil is generally an argument against classical theism anyways, I'm yet to see a probabilistic argument from evil against nontheism. It would be a category error to ascribe this argument to a belief system which isn't characterised by the assumptions of benevolence, omnipotence...

    Yeah, it's a problem with how certain deities are defined. A worldview that makes no appeals to deities has no such problem.

    Yeah, which is why the skeptical theist's (poor) response is becoming more popular.
    I love Sehon's idea of moral paralysis.
