  • Interfaith Marriage Ruling
     OP - December 17, 2014, 02:04 AM

Shabbir Ally saying that it's legally permissible for a muslim woman to marry a non muslim man. He advises both muslim men and women to marry inside the faith but at least he's not being misogynistic so I guess that's an improvement ?

The islamic community needs more islamic scholars like him to slowly drag them over to secularism and liberalism.

Ironic, I was just thinking about odd opinions among traditionalists and posting a thread for it maybe later.

Hasan Turabi, the leader of Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan, also said several years ago that a muslim woman could marry a nonmuslim man if they were either christian or jewish

I've seen shabbir from a few debates when I was a Christian. Seems like a nice guy, but he consistently throws out horrible arguments and fails to grasp why they are illogical.

Likewise CJ,  likewise but then the same would have to go for her extended family and country of origin's government too. Wink

I should show this to my parents, so they can accept my boyfriend (well he is a muslim, his dad is, but he is raised by his mum, who is christian and she goes to church and has the bible and stuff) Cheesy

Unfortunately he only extends this to "People of the Book" (Christains and jews)  so atheists and people of other religions wouldn't be covered by this.

just for her family, the Indian government is not Islamic and does not care, that's why they issued us a marriage cert.

Isn't the answer to this to state to family etc that the proposed partner is actually your slave?

    Does that work both ways?

Good for India, unfortunately I can't say the same for all other Asian countries.

Coming from a vagely Christian background I could always pretend, now please excuse, while I get me some holy communion. Wink
