Who is the best/ most respectable English speaking Muslim Apologist?

Hey folks,
Who would you say is the most respectable English speaking Muslim apologist/debater.
Not the biggest fan of the iERA lot. Hamza & Adam Deen both just plagiarise from Christian apologists - and add very little. Adnan Rahid's a buffoon. Abdur-rahhem green is a taliban sympathising fanatic. Dawah man is so cringe - that he's actually funny.

Theres some Abdullah Andolini chap around - most of my Muslim mates share his videos - and I think he had a discussion with the Rationaliser recently. I personally haven't seen any of his videos - or read any of his literature, so I can't really say how good he is.

Also - how respectable or popular is Shabir Ally?

From what I have seen Abdullah guy seems nice and at least less of a charlatan than the other guys.

Goodness!! If these are the best apologists on offer, Islam is in serious trouble.

Personally I would never have considered any of the above as good apologists when I was at the height of my Islamic fervour .

Speakers I respected in the past were not the ones interested in being popular or gaining celebrity status like some of the above. Our Sheikh at Islamia School; Sheikh Ahmad Babakir was someone I respected and liked a lot. Also Sheikh Abdul Hakim Murad. Also way back in the day, I liked and respected Dr. Darsh (once of Regents Park mosque) - Allah yarhamuh.

Shabir ally is one of the most polite and pleasant apologists I've seen. However, the guys arguments are simply terrible. He mostly debates Christians from what I've seen and spends a lot of time wrenching verses from the bible completely out of context to make it seem like the bible predicted muhammad. Also he was big on scientific miracles and pattern seeking linguistic "miracles." He seems so polite and sometimes the comments he make seems like there is some honesty in him but the dishonest arguments he uses makes him out to be otherwise. That or he simply just isn't that bright

There is no respect in apologetics. They are all deluded and most are liars, some more than others with Adnan Rashid being the worst of the offendors.

He asked Maryam Namzie once - at the end of an Athiest Convention - Some historians like my self would argue - that sharia law was the best thing that happened to mankind. This was met by a lot of laughter from the audience.

If the list included Maajid Nawaz I'd have picked him or Kristiane Backer.

There's of course Ajmal Masroor who is a likeable fellow.
Ziauddin Sardar is polite but just as foolish as the rest of them.
You forgot to include Abu Ameenah Billal Phillips.
You also forgot Usamah Hassan from the same orgnisation as Maajid.
Of course, my darling Maryam Francois Cerrah.
Add to that list the brainwashed Yvonne RIdley.
Hell, the detestable George Galloway too.

I find it strange that Adnan Rashid brings to his defense that Robert Spencer is a christian and that there is no evidence for Jesus, since Jesus is supposed to be an important prophet in islam as well.

So, he cannot be the best, for sure .

I could only begin to answer this if you separated popular and respectable into two separate questions. Unfortunately, the most popular ones tend to just be the noisiest.

As an ex-Quranist I ought to suggest Adnan Ibrahim from my camp. Most popular Quranist I know of, and to this day relatively few of his speeches or positions have me revolted. A couple of his lectures I still enjoy.
