Relevant to Delilah, the Bible hints she might have been mixed-race or a complete foreigner (not Danite nor Philistine). Steve Weitzman, "The Samson story as border fiction":

The reason I said "Danite" and not "Israelite" is because "Herculean Samson" stands out among those pious Israelites like Kevin Sorbo at a Passover seder. Why's he kicking butt here, and not wrestling bears in Macedonia?

There's talk that the Dan tribe might have been Aegaean in the first place (like the Philistines), and that Samson's legend derives from the same pool of Aegaean myth that yielded Mopsos and Heracles elsewhere.
