    https://soundcloud.com/nothing97394739257209/a-promise-we-kept-dancing-2

Our word is as good as our treaties.

Promises made and then broken/humans are just like us, just like you/believe our suffering together can do something good/for one another/lie, another deception, another invention that keeps us from being together.

We made it here, safe but not exactly sound.

This place is not familiar but it feels like home because of you/and I know what it is to not make a promise I can’t keep/suffering and not knowing what the future holds for the people I love/you and I will traverse across imaginary boundaries between each other/person on this planet we will slowly but surely destroy/ourselves if we don't make a change.

We need more than just a little courage.

How are we supposed to go gently into a good night/my love, your words raging in my mind at night, keeping me up and wondering how to spread my wings and fly to you/have always said that there are no such things as boundaries, only in my mind/I see revolutions taking place in the spaces where we dance.

This is the time to be led astray.

We are tired of waiting for God’s mysterious plan to take us where it will/not be better in the “afterlife”/is not worth more than this world/is our only shot at making things right/now we are hungry for more than hollow promises of gardens flowing with rivers/of wine will go well with our suffering, don’t you think?

    I’ve never had wine.

We knew there would be danger in speaking our minds/full of music, drinking, dancing, places without boundaries, sex, thoughts about transcendence/is real but heaven is not/the final destination, and neither is hell/really where we go when we bother to ask the right questions?

There’s enough hell on earth for everyone.

There’s also heaven here/is where we’re alive/damn it, not dead, not machines, but living, breathing people with flaws and desires/they say, lead to infidelity, and I’ve never felt more of an infidel than when we are together and you speak of revolutions/take time but we have been here for such a long time.

Many of us have left reason behind.

And many of us have been led astray by asking questions we aren't meant to ask/why is disbelief a greater transgression than murder for some/times believers kill, so why do they get paradise while the rest of humanity suffers/every day, so why doesn't God intervene?

    It's free will, they say.

They pray for a merciful end, the infinite justice of God to make things right/now we are hungry, and miserable, and alone, and not by our own free will/you stand with me, together/we have the potential of infinite mercy and justice inside of us, not God/is the creation, not the creator.

There are too many things to do here.

And when will it all come to an end/that won't be just for anyone at all/the illusions we've created serve no one/more time, I want to hear you speak about imaginary boundaries because that gives me hope for revolutions yet to come/back to reason, reality is more precious than a myth that makes us comfortable.

I don't know when time will change things.

I know time doesn't really exist so it's all a matter of our words/can do things that perhaps our bodies can't/start revolutions without dancing/is another sin I can't fathom/why it's wrong to move my body with yours in ways that cross imaginary boundaries.

We can only act brave when we are afraid.

And I am afraid of everything/makes me question the way we live our lives/are not about worship but love/is not the act of possessing another human being but setting them free/to do what we want without hurting anybody.

I don't want to hurt anybody.

Least of all the ones who brought me into this world/I love but don't connect with anyone else/and I would say fuck off, I don't want to see them anymore/of their words will make me explode but I've held my tongue for too long.

There's only one thing I want you to know.

We are still in the same place, fighting for what should be our basic rights, not God given but ours to take/our freedom, because no one can give it/takes a lot of courage to admit we are wrong about the existence of God/we have been waiting for an answer to our prayers/are only unanswered cries for help.

    We can only help ourselves.

And that's another thing I want you to know/I love you deeply, not possessively obsessive about who you belong to/yourself and no one else and that's what's so beautiful about you/help me believe in possibilities/are endless when you know who to talk to.

I wish you would stay with me.

I don't know how bad it has to get before I leave this place behind/me is a trail of memories of sad faces/I can't escape until I have the courage to do what is right/I don't know anymore but I know that you have led me this far and now you have to go.

I'll watch you fly away and imagine us dancing.
