  • Another lexical project: "Arabic Influence on the Style of the Koran"

I have another pinata, er, essay to offer here: "Arabic Influence on the Style of the Koran". (The title refers to Mingana's classic on Syriac influence. Because I'm silly that way...)

    Summary:
    Quote
All communications between humans are carried out in a shared language. In places this occurs by way of idiom. In the Semitic world of northwest Arabia, two examples are the Safaitic graffiti and the Qur’an. Their idioms at times are equivalent. This confirms that the Qur’an and Safaitic share not only a vocabulary and a grammar (Arabic), but a means of delivering that language. The Qur’an has developed this language according to its own rhyme and religion.
