I had a conversation with a muslim guy, told him about my renouncement and told him that muhammed had plagiarized different sources to author quran, and the he told me about this verse :

And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" They say, "Legends of the former peoples,"(16:24)

he told me that this is what we,apostates are doing now , we say that its legends of old people and neglect the truth .
I'm a lil confused here . need help .

Islam can not be separated from it's region nor the history of the region, Islam itself claims it is the true religion which Judaism and Christianity have distorted so this tradition destroyed the counter argument itself. It still uses a lot of the previous religion's views Legend does not mean myth but can be simply unverified. A legend can also contain points which are part of history independently but the whole story itself may not. Moses is a literary construct with zero historicity in support. However Moses is a very important figure in all 3 Abrahamic religions. So in this case Islam is not repeating a legend but merely repeating mythology it takes as if it was a fact within history.

Person X = Rehashes myths & fairy tales and says the unbelievers will say they are myths & fairy tales.

Person Y = These are myths & fairy tales!!

Person X = I knew you would say that!

Wow! you mean you made up bullshit and foresaw some people would realise it was bullshit.

There is also the position that theology itself should be a guide, or the only guide, to all interpretation outside of theology. This happened with archaeology. Pro-bible supporters such as Albright developed the very methodologies that show a lot of the bible to be false thus his theology untenable. Often people never look at the their theological view points at all.

asfexmuzzie ., I fully agree with your friend/Muslim guy not only that Non-Muslim intellectuals are mistaken as well s confused.. Off course Muslim intellectuals never understood Islam, Islamic history and they too are thoroughly mistaken..

that is true Quran Surah An-Nahl verse 24 does say that., He is right ., Question now is what kind of help do you need?

and what truth has been neglected by these so called apostates? Did they say that Quran doesn't say that?? by the way Quran also says this

"O ye who believe! Ask not questions about things which if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. Some people before you did ask such questions, and on that account lost their faith." (Surah 5:101-102).

should we believe in what Quran says and people should STOP ASKING QUESTIONS about Quran because Quran says that ??

asfexmuzzie, it's very easy to make up anything... Anybody can claim anything they want, doesn't mean everything they say is true
