  • Hidden ex muslim for two years
     OP - June 15, 2016, 03:18 PM

Hi there, after two years, I've finally decided joining this forum. Living in silence is becoming more and more unbearable, so here I am.

I guess I should introduce myself. I was raised mostly by my father under strict religious guidance. I attended an Islamic education, and remained muslim for most of my life until I was sixteen years old. I had a strange period of about a month in which my doubts heightened and then it was over. I realized so clearly that Islam was not true.

Until this day, I have never doubted my decision, but I live in fear that I will be caught by people I know. I wear a hijab and skirt/abaya whenever I am around my family, and take it off whenever I can in public.

I would like to share my thoughts and opinions on Islam, as this is a very important issue in our society today.

I'd like to thank the creators of this site for providing a much needed outlet for people like me, when there is none available in our communities.

I'd like to hear your stories too!   Smiley

     thnkyu

Welcome to the forum AE (do you mind if I call you AE? you can call me Berbs for short too  grin12 ).

I won't ask where in the Western world you live, but are you at least living in an area where it is easy for you to have the hijab/abaya off in public? cos either way it's not easy, but if you're in a really Muslim area, I can imagine it's even harder.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Lol no it's totally fine if you call me AE Smiley

I try to take off my hijab, abaya, and skirts off whenever I can. But there's a lot of muslims where I live and I'm always terrified of rumours spreading and reaching the wrong people. Yes, it's very hard.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for I have a sonic screwdriver, a tricorder, and a Type 2 phaser.

    Welcome!  parrot

How well I understand what you feel, for a Muslim, tell that you don't believe anymore, that's like saying coldly that you are a homosexual, this is an excellent analogy.

With the exception of very few friends and some members of my family, I do not waste my time and my energy with people who are not ready to question themselves and reconsider some facts that they take for granted.

Don't hesitate to put down on paper your thoughts, that's salutary.

This is one of the only places where I can speak my mind, so it does help a lot. Thank you SetMeFree Smiley

I see what you mean. I'm prepared to let the news out in the future when I'm no longer in danger, and I'm also prepared to let go of any past friends that decide they can no longer handle my presence. I'm considering writing a blog, but I have a hard time deciding where to start, since I have so much to say...
