Anyone doing an Islamic version? To hunt for jinn, prizes to be grapes?

When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.

How can anything invented post 600 be haram? It is an innovation to say so :-)

Well, I think there are many things (e.g. TV) which haven't been there in Mo. time and now considered to be haram.

But who says so? Mohammed, Gabriel , Allah?

What authority do these people who say such and such is haram have?

Qiyas, i.e. deductive analogy, is one of the sources of Islamic jurisprudence. Just because something didn't exist 1,400 years ago doesn't mean it can't be ruled upon.

If it is deductive, that means the wrong deductions can be made

Anyone able to find anything in Quran and or Hadith that can be applied to Pokemon to make it permitted -)

And is there anything to stop writing new Hadith?

My dad always told me that if it wasn't haram or mentioned back then, then it was bad to assume it was haram now. He said that many people seemed to think everything was haram, and that if it wasn't, they would find a reason to make it haram.  He on the other hand, believed that what was never mentioned, and can't be linked to haram, was permissible.

Don't know how legit that is, basic google search tells me that either my search terms are shit, or he was chatting shit.  Like when he told me turkey was like pork, and flat out haram....which he only said because he hates turkey.  Grin

You know what would be funny?  if a rare pokemon was in Mecca.

It would be a miracle from allah, probably proof that even pokemon know the truth.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

If someone would invent a holy islamically acceptable Pokemon character, I think it would be very important in drawing people away from the death cults

Serious question: is Pokemon really considered haram? I was raised in a pretty secular household, so there are some things that I'm hearing just now on the forums that sound utterly bizarre. I know of music supposedly being sinful, especially female singing voices (because they are like sirens luring sailors to their doom, don't you know). But Pokemon? Really? I would be grateful if anyone could relate what justification was given for putting Pokemon in the naughty box.

There was a huge controversy when Pokemon was popular back in the day. Where I grew up some idiots started spreading rumours that Pokemons' names were codewords for anti-Islamic things like "Screw Muhammad" or something. That shit spread like wildfire... and many kids actually burnt their Pokemon collections. It was sad.

My uncle said Pokémon means "God is bad" because it said so in some Saudi Arabian newspaper. What an ingenious excuse to not have to buy me Pokémon shit.

I just read an article in a German website: http://winfuture.de/news,93260.html

It says that there is a fatwa against Pokemon. The Islamic council of Saudi Arabia sees it as a collection of sins. The fatwa says that this game includes evolution and Judaism.    The Pokemons can evolve to other Pokemons. It says "It's horrible to hear the word "evolution" in the mouths of Children."

Furthermore the game promotes different religion, such as the Japanese Shinto religion, Christianity, Freemasons and worst of all the global Zionism.

However, I don't have link for the fatwa. By the way, my comment that it is haram was just a joke of me. Although I knew that Islamic leaders would consider it has haram.

Edit: just saw it. The original article is from the guardian:
