Advising women not to go out after a terrorist incident

"A thing I see time and time again. When I was Muslim I wasn't afraid to call it out. Why shouldn't women go out? We have jobs too. We have errands to run. 'Don't go out without a mahram'. Yeh cos the men in your family are available 24/7 to escort you around. So that means staying inside doing nothing. Tell the sisters to be vigilant, but not the brothers. They are invincible."
That seems pretty typical of the muslim attitude towards women.
However, on the other hand, there are some cowards who would pick on a women but who wouldn't have the courage to confront a man of their own size who might respond physically.
