Depends on the beer m'dear. I don't drink mass produced swill. At least not American. Guinness is another story. Mmmmmmmm.... Guinness, a meal in a glass.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I remain.

God, talking about alcohol has really made this thread popular, hasn't it? Funny thing is, I didn't have the drink afterall. It was too early in the afternoon. It's probably not going to be my thing anyway, I don't fancy vomitting much. If I get invited to a meal where wine is served, or a champagne reception, I'll have the courtesy drink. Otherwise...meh. Not bothered to part with extra cash just to have my senses dulled.

One or two light drinks, like a bacardi breezer never made anyone sick.

But it's up to you of course, some people just don't get the appeal of a drink or two.  Smiley

Yep. I'm not into getting drunk, but the flavour of a good drink and the light buzz it gives you can be rather nice. One or two is fine with me.

I am. It’s SO MUCH FUN on a night out at a club or summat. I remember a few years ago (when I was still muslim!) going to Rock clubs, getting pissed, kissing and shagging girls and regretting it (“oh noes, teh allahz will send me 2 helLOLfire!”), etc. It was the best of times. It was the blurst of times?!

I'd rather shag when I'm not drunk. More fun that way.  dance

That was also partly one of the regrets. I always pulled the hottest when I couldn’t remember with any clarity. I recall snogging the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen on Valentine’s Day — except I only vaguely recalled it, and that the day after. I immediately txted her to ask if that had happened and she replied back with: “Yes. I’d asked you if you’d buy me a drink, and you said you’d do it for a french kiss!”

    Hahaha!

I'm trying to think of names for my blog. Can anyone think of any female Muslim or non-Muslim heretics from history? I can only think of joan of ark.

Joan of Ark was a saint, not a heretic.  mysmilie_977 She's the patron saint of France, and I think, soldiers.

Can't think of any heretics apart from Mother Shipton, and she's not very glamorous.

I meant she was burnt at the stake as a heretic. She was tried by an ecclesiastical court and the Holy See only declared her innocence 24 years after her death. She was only made a saint in 1920.

True enough, she was executed on a trumped up charge of heresy.

What was the name of the pagan queen who fought against the Muslim invasion of Morocco. Was it Kahina? I can't quite remember.

ETA: Yes, that was her title. Apparently her actual name is supposed to have been Zaynab al-Nafzawiya but that sounds like an Arabic name to me so it probably isn't her real one.

Fine, you can take that one berbs. Where's your blog anyway? I'm going to carry on pouring my sorrows into a word file until I come up with a suitable blog name.

Excellent blog - and I like the design.

The first post is well written and very moving.

    You have my sympathy.

    I just posted this:

You are going though a very difficult time and I feel for you - and your mother, though she is using a great deal of emotional blackmail to get you to do what she wants you to do. But of course she is simply a victim of her upbringing and culture and faith so I can't be too hard on her.

But my heart really goes out to you as it must be so unbearable for you.

On a positive note I do firmly believe things will get better and your mother will always love you no matter what your life-choices are. Don't be afraid, remain positive and strong.

    You will get through this.

Get the fuck out. Seriously. It sounds like you need to. I have a sneaking suspicion that she wont react nearly so badly when she doesn't have a captive audience. yes

And yes, that first post is well written. Get a few more good ones up and I'll hook you up with a front page link.

Yes, I have. In fact I find the internet as a whole presents a rather unbalanced and lopsided view of most things to do with Islam - it's either rabid hatred against Islam or rabid hatred in the name of Islam.

I have long said that the internet is crying out for moderate voices.

Regarding drinks, it was our work xmas party today at a bar...I had a bit to drink since it was all free and put on the company tabs. I obviously got quite tipsy and disorientated that the last drink I ordered was Red Bull and Coke, when it was meant to be Red Bull and Vodka.... wacko

Luckily the drinks were free and that combination tasted alright or that would have been a huge waste of money.
