The Hairy Turk did not write an acceptance speech, so I will shamelessly post his personal message here from a week ago:
Hey my sugarplum,
Did you know that you won the Poster of the month award? The crowd awaits the King's acceptance speech.
Very cute. I don't go in for popularity contests though. Something queasy about the whole enterprise. It encourages conformity and groupthink. No true iconoclast who strikes out on his own gets much of a look-in. I think it was Bertrand Russell who said in his autobiography that bagging the Nobel Prize made him jittery because respectability signalled the approval of the establishment against whose endless wars, privileges, and religious humbuggery he was at war.
“I've always thought respectable people scoundrels" he said, "and I look anxiously at my face every morning for signs of my becoming a scoundrel.” If people like my scribblings, I'm clearly doing something wrong.
