    Has anyone here read Scott Adams(yes the Dilbert man) book called God's Debris? If so what are your thoughts on it?

    If you havent read it, I suggest you go here: http://images.ucomics.com/images/pdfs/sadams/godsdebris.pdf.

    Its very short and easy to read, and quite amusing at times, though the subject matter is pretty dense. I dont agree with everything expressed in this short book but I love the idea. His thoughts on God seem a bit limited to a very specific concept of deity(particularly the Judeo-Xian God), which is a little disappointing. But otherwise i think its an excellent way to excersise one's mind.

    I've read, well I've tried to read it anyway. But the author does not seem to know much about science which is frustrating, he's idea seem contradictory and nonsensicle at times too. Overall it is a very interesting idea

    The book is meant to be a thought-experiment, there's something wrong with what the old man is saying apparently. Have you figured it out?

    ive come across that as well, i dont think its meant to be very scientific, and its been quite a while since ive read it but i heard of the error as well. will have to re read...

    Have you read Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy?

    it is an insult to the trilogy. which happens to be of my favourite books of all time... the movie just killed me.

    I'm reluctant to see over hyped movies like that, they usually disappoint big time. Might just read the books at some point.

    I'm lazy, rather see the movie. The whole thing doesn't appeal to me. Harry Potter for atheists.

    I just found out that some of the scientific mistakes were deliberate. I found this review of the book which sums it up quite well -

    Actually I have read one of the trilogy, I've read The Subtle Knife. It was alright, cant remember it much now but I didn't think it was all that amazing at the time I was reading it.

    I don't expect much from films these days, especially those based on something. They never get it right, it's all about the FX now.

    same here. I was 12 when my friend bought me The Subtle Knife, and I was halfway through before I realised it was a sequel..... no wonder half didnt make sense!

    so I read the trilogy in the correct order and it quite changed my life. This book is the reason why I'm so interested in theology, physics, philosophy etc today.

    I didn't like the movie either. The characters were so poorly developed and one-dimensional. The visual effects were rather nice, though.

    Well said. It's watered down garbage to appeal to people who'd rather stuff popcorn into their lazy gobs than think.
