    ask any apostate or muslim and they'll tell you, for example, that there's no such commandment or recommendation in the quran or hadith that tells people to destroy civilians by suicide.

    Yea right. May be not by suicide, but islam definitely calls for infidels to be made dhimmis, or to be offered to accept islam or to be killed if they are civilians in a captured area. And it also calls for islam to be spread by force. There are definitely violent verses in the quran, and violent hadiths that have inspired a lot of violence done in the name of islam.
