Aha! So that explains why all Mormons are white, and usually blonde or redheaded at that! One of my best friends is a Mormon and whenever I would attend church functions with her as a kid I always felt like I was in the middle of some clandestine Nazi Aryan meeting... I cannot believe what I just read! Are they aware of this verse when you point it out to them - What do they say? Do they harbour negative feelings towards black people - I wonder what percentage of mormons voted for Obama?

Actually I knew quite a few non-white Mormons. I don't know what they say to that verse though...

My closest friend who's Mormon is Latina. But I used to work in a library that must have been close to some kind of LDS basecamp or something, because they were always in there with their ties and nametags... I saw people of all ethnicities.

I do remember quite clearly the number of mormon churches down in Latin America, it was kind of like a contest between them, the evangelicals and the Jehovah Witnesses.

Lovely videos brucepig! I first learnt about Mormonism when I read Christopher Hitchen's God is not Great. There is apparently a similarity between Mohammed and Joseph Smith, and some of these similarities have been pointed out in this article. Its from a Christian site, so its to be taken with a pinch of salt, but as they say, there's no smoke without fire! It writes quite a bit about the beginnings of Mormonism.

Anyway yes, Mormonism does seem completely crazy to me too. It's amazing how some bloke can just make stuff up and people will create a religion out of it. I might try it myself. Seems to be very profitable and all. I'm sure I can come up with a nuttier story than the last bloke and this seems to be the prime criterion for success.

What about Jama'at at-Tableegh?

In my experience, Tablighi Jamat was more interested in proselytizing to Muslims than non Muslims. Basically to join the Tablighi and follow their way of Islame, which they call "coming back to real Islame" or something.
