  • What is your ethnicity?
     OP - February 28, 2009, 07:05 PM

COEM is a very diverse community. We have members here who come from all walks of life. I'm sure that most of you here reside somewhere in Europe, most likely UK. But I'm curious to know, what is the ethnic diversity of our members?

Personally I'm a mix-as I'm sure everyone is to some extent. Both my parents are from Bangladesh, but both my parents have Burma and Persia blood in them. My family tree is a bit vague as no one knows the complete tree, so I can't give a specific lineage. My family just doesn't look like your typical Bengali family. Most of my uncles have Arab features. I'll work on figuring out the specifics later. I'm very eager to find out about my family tree.

    So, what's your ethnicity?

I'm Indian, Gujarati. My mom's Bohra Muslim- she supposedly has Yemeni & Egyptian ancestry & definitely had Indian ancestry. Dad's Zoroastrian, at its zenith, the Zoroastrian faith was practiced in Azerbaijan, Iran & parts of Afghanistan, before Islam ousted it from all those places, so dad probably has Azerbaijani & Afghan ancestry, along with Iranian.

Parents Indian, moved to Pakistan for studies, then to UK (dad worked for British Navy as medical officer).

Ancestry probably strong Afghanistan soldiers recruited by Indian Government to control populace at the time.

Mostly white with a couple of brown bits. Australian, Irish, English, Greek and Turkish within the past century or so. The further back you go the more confused it'll get. Ultimately we're all Africans.

Irish.  I can go about five generations back and find the odd exotic Scots ancestor, but basically Irish.

As I've said before, Aubrey Manning's Earth Story is well worth a look because as well as telling the unfolding story of how we're finding out how the Earth really works,  it ties up all the links between the different sciences in a very rounded way and points to further corroborative study sources. It's c. 10 yrs old now but needs little updating to be even more convincing.

No, Islam will destroy itself. I was originally selected to destroy Turkey and the Turkish (by some crypto turks who were anti Attaturk) but then I chose to destroy a bigger evil.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Immaculately conceived god\s are often notoriously cruel to animals. Even Jesus, otherwise a very nice guy & infinitely preferable to Muhammad sent 200 pigs to their death by drowning after claiming that Satan had got into them.

Fortunately now we have PETA so that another guy who claims to be immaculately conceived & wants to destroy cute pandas can be prosecuted... Smiley

    True

We are usually cruel and merciless, especially to inferior creatures.

Screw PETA, thanks to my influence, no one listens to them anymore. Crazy animal lovers.

Thankfully you aren't anywhere near as merciless as Muhammad, whose one miracle is(self confessedly) the Quran. victory

Yeah I think Mo pulled the "bluff" card too early.

Thanks for this - fascinating stuff.

Is the a theory that we all came from Africa, or accepted as scientific fact   Prior to this re-education, I was under the impression that we all derived from one of 5 monkeys - the mongolian/ african/aryan/davidian - well something like this anyway.  This to me explained the the five types of humans we seem to have in terms of jaw/bone structure, eyes etc.

Does this theory supercede, or in congruence with it?
