    As salamu aleiykum, sorry couldn't resist, Heya My name is Mick aka Vaz the spaz aka Godzilla aka Spazilla aka atheist of peace aka internet infide. I am a forum whore. I am not, nor was I ever a Muslim. However. I am the non Muslim/atheist mod at TMZ http://www.themuslimzone.com/ . How did that happen? Well I enjoy learning and talking about religion and my X-gf was Islamic so Islam went to the top of my list of religions to learn about. Found the site, joined, posted, didn't piss people off some how, a mod retired, I apped, and they were like yeah we want interfaith talks and made me a mod.

    I was invited here by one of the mods who also post at RDF. Who is the mod here? I am not sure yet : (

    I am a bit "eccentric"
    I am psych major.
    Like to read.
    like to learn.
    like to talk and debate.

    So umm what do you all want to know?
    I have this 4 page paper called "Who am I" that I could post.
    *awaits to get reamed*

    I'm still not sure about this idea of Islam according more rights to women than Christianity?  Maybe the ex-muslim women here could have a conversation with you about that.

    I have made three attempts to post an intro thread in the Muslim Zone, but they are so liberal that I get a you are not authorised to post in this forum every time.

    By Islam & Christianity, do you mean the holy scriptures or how the faiths are practiced today?

    I don't even think the Holy Scriptures offer more rights. Maybe only in the area of inheritance, the Quran gives women half that of a man, the Bible Numbers gave women inheritance, only if she had no brother. European married women till the late 19th century, couldn't have any assets in their name, Muslim married women always did.

    Other than that how? Islam makes a big brouhaha about the fact that it gave women right to divorce, however Muslim men had unilateral right of repudiation, women had to go through a complex process called the khula, where she would lose all right to maintenance or mehr. European Christianity, at least the Catholic Church, made divorce impossible, annulment was an extremely complex process & equally complex for both parties, so there wasn't any discrimination in favor of males.

    I also tried registering and after getting through the steps I clicked send or done or whatever it was, but just get a blank page. I left it for a bit and went back and still get a blank page.

    I would have thought they would have tried to convert you at each & every opportunity.

    How did you act as a mod on an Islamic forum, and manage to bite your tongue each & every time? 

    You must have heard some rubbish being spouted, but I guess as a hippy nothing ever really gets to you. 

    ..Well you're in the right place in that case, it'll be interesting to see how you deal with some of the nutjobs here

    I would still repeat my query, how does Islam treat women better than Christianity, theoretically? I'd be glad if you give your opinion.

    Well to start, in Islam, humanities decent from Eden is not the sole fault of the woman.
    I have seen, been shown, more passages from the Koran then the bible that "advances" womans rights.
