With all the Islam bashing that has gone on in the forum in the past few days, I thought I might give them some credit, where credit it due.Actually, I have bashed Islam liberally these past few days too, so I thought I might try to find something good in it. You know, give the devil its due?

There is a general belief that Islam has a +ive role in AIDS prevention in Africa. What do you think?

The countries' at the top of the list are the Sub Saharan African nations, ravaged by AIDS-but there is a clear distinction between these Sub Saharan African nations. The nations at the very top of the list are South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland-etc namely the Christian African nations, while Muslim Somalia, Mali, Senegal etc are all significantly beneath, at any rate the Muslim African nations don't reach double digit figures like the Christian African nations have managed to do. What is Islam doing right in these places that Christianity isn't?

P.S. I have not included the North African nations like Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia or Morocco because being Arab Berber, they are racially & geographically distinct from Sub Saharan Africa, yet even juxtaposing these nations with the South African nations would yield interesting results.

South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe: Abysmal AIDS rates
Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco & Egypt: Significant lower AIDS rates, often less than the world avarage.

I asked my uncle the internal surgeon, about what are the stats for Hepatitis B & C in Egypt, he answered 25-75%. It is very sad when even a surgeon, who specializes in this shiit, does not have clear stats to go along with. I have heard of entire buses of workers trying to go work in Arab countries, being turned back because no one on the bus passed his medical.

I also know that the ruling elite of those countries are terrified of aids. Saddam for example, while in jail, was afraid his cloth might get washed with american soldiers', for fear he catches aids.

In Egypt, any foreigner in egypt for any purpose other then tourism, has to get checked for aids very often. He you apply for a work permit you get tested for aids and only aids. When u leave the country for more then 7 days, u get tested again. When you buy a car, and then when you apply for a driving license. When you you buy a house. When you get engaged. When you get married. There is like 20 considitions that a foreigner will need to get tested for aids in that country. Even though I believe the country is supposedly dying from hepatitis and belharciosis.

Thanks for the telling me about the situation in Egypt Baal. What are your opinions on the Islam AIDS correlation?

Most sub Saharan African Muslim nations seem to have significantly less AIDS than Christian nations, why is this so? Somalia is full of rampaging jihadists but still it has AIDS rates significantly below say, Zimbabwe's AIDS rates.

I doubt there's any one reason, but could it be partly that muslim countries don't have the Catholic Church preaching at them that condom use is sinful?

Baal made a good point. Do they actually have reliable stats on AIDS anyway? It would help if we look at the stats of other STIs in case those countries are only targeting AIDS and nothing else.

NOTE: In Senegal, honor killings are non existent, completely non existent, forget stoning, even the death penalty is outlawed & with a 90% Muslim population, missionary activity is freely allowed, the First President was a Christian, son of a Muslim mother & a Christian father.

I doubt these Sub Saharan nations could keep AIDS rates hidden if they crossed say 10%-even though they might, just might be deflating the real figures.

I don't think that could be hushed up and these countries don't practice Sharia in terms of sexual crimes (not that I'm aware of anyway).
