The John Frum cult

A few days ago I looked up the term "cargo cult". Cargo cults can spring up in primitive, isolated cultures when they come in contact with people possessing advanced technology. The cult members think that the stuff they get to see is too advanced to be the product of human work, therefore it must have been sent down by gods. Through rituals they imagine that the gods will bestow those "magical things" on them, instead of only on the foreigners.

I didn't know that Richard Dawkins wrote about that in "The God Delusion". Here is a two-part video of the cult, and the audio played is that of Richard reading from his book.

Isn't there one of those Cargo Cults that worships Prince Phillip?

Yeah, its true. There was an ancient myth on this Island that there was a god with pale skin who went to a far away land. He would then marry a powerful woman and return to the Island. Prince Philip and the Queen just happened to visit this Island, the Islanders were told that she was a Queen and they put two and two together and assumed that Prince Philip was their god!
