    Interesting. I'm surprised he didn't get hardcore negative responses, despite the Shi'a/Sunni division.

    Salafis believe there is no room for Madhab in Islam so I would expect that from Salafis over any other group. They believe that everybody should follow Islam how the first three generations of Muslims, i.e the Salaf, followed Islam. I.e. there is no need for schools of thought.

    No it isn't. Hanafis, Shafis, Hanbalis and Malikis follow the schools of thought of their chosen Imam, and follow Islam as interpreted by Alims, whereas the Salafis say that we should just follow the Qur'an and Hadith in a literal way.

    But they do refer to themselves as a school of thought or "madhab". There are many madhabs in Sunni Islam (I don't know much at Shia Islam), and people are encouraged to choose a madhab and follow it. Salafis refer to themselves as Salafis because they say that the first three generations of Islam, or the Salaf did not follow Madhabs (even though they did and had their own Madhabs) and we should be like them as they are the most righteous Muslims.

    The Shia\Sunni barrier is somewhat easier to break through. The essence- Quran, hadiths, sira, Muhammad the last Prophet remain the same-although many Sunnis believe that Shias aren't "real Muslims".

    I think accepting "Ahmadiyyas" is going to be tougher-Muhammad as the"seal of the Prophets" is one of the essential doctrines of Islam.

    Yeh but what they don't get is that Ahmaddis don't see the 'leader' as a prophet...but yeh, that's the argument they use against Ahmaddis

    Try explaining that to my otherwise very tolerant grandpa who says that the Ahmadiyyas should declare themselves a separate faith & then he'd have no problem against them.  Wink

    Wouldn't that just give the Sunnis and Shias just another excuse to murder them all?  BTW, aren't the Ahmadiyyas the ones that reject jihad?
