No, it's not sweet, it's not childish. Before I go on, I have read the four books out of curiosity. Twilight is just terrible. It's simply the fantasies of an unpopular girl with a very conservative christian upbringing and a real problem with women. Bella is vapid, annoying, helpless and the anti-thesis of a strong woman. Edward is... beautiful, yeah, we hear that 52721351 times per page, but he's also creepy and controling and borderline abusive. Their relationship is definitely not something young impressionable girls should look up to (I am speaking out of concern. My little sister is obsessed with the series and her boyfriend is a douche and she puts up with his bullshit).
Other than that, the writing is just plain horrible and it's boring to tears, except the last book which is just awesome because of all the creepiness and gross stuff that happen. That Stephenie Meyer broad should be shot in the face, though.
Well Edward does realise he is being controlling in the end.

I understand what you're saying Naerys but to me, it's a sweet story, it's love-sick and juvenile, nothing more. I'm old enough to find it cute and it doesn't leave a lasting impression on me.
