I would go back and live in the middle ages as a king or something. I just think I was born in the wrong time period. I am thinking, Punjab 1206 having a large empire a large army and lots of harems, I liked the concept of harems.
I find it funny that you think you would be at the top of the food chain back then, for all you know the only way you could end up in a harem is as a eunuch.

I would have a time machine, and I would make sure I am a king! or some kind of incarnation of god.
What do you suppose would happen if some of your technology broke or failed to work just the way you had planned?
Go back in time, but if it broke completely, then I'd find other ways of getting into power, remember I would still be able very smart, as I am coming from the future, I would know scientific things.
Personally, I think you would be in seriously deep shit. Just for starters:
Could you build a time machine from scratch? This means you would have to smelt, purify, and shape metals, make all kinds of chemicals (plastics, oil, etc) from whatever raw ingredients you could find, the machine would definitely need a power source (probably a big one - this means engines and generators - could you make a nuclear reactor?), something to control it all with (a computer of some sort), and whatever it is in a time machine that makes it travel through time.
Now to do all this, you would have to master skills entirely unrelated to those needed to make a time machine: You'd need a place to work, so you would have to know how to build a laboratory and workshop. Starting with "cut down this tree" and "dig that rock out of the ground". You'd have to make all kinds of tools. Hell, you'd have to make the tools that allow you to make the tools that allow you to make the tools....through many levels of ever-increasing sophistication and differentiation.
Now think about how you are going to feed yourself. You better wear that mantle of godhood wisely, because otherwise (assuming you're not already dead), you'd be spending most of your time farming. It is much better to let the yokels feed you.
Another important thing is medicine. Could you make whatever medicines you might need, either for disease or to manage a condition (like diabetes)?
Actually, if you were to recreate technology like this, and share it (appropriately I would hope) with the yokels you would like to lord it over, you most likely would be some sort of demigod (and wallowing in more pussy than you could handle).
Speaking of pussy, there's the psychological issues involved. What would you do for companionship? Really. Think about it: You're "way back when" with all your knowledge and the adults around you wouldn't know half as much as one of today's 6 year olds. They would know what they needed to do in order to survive (things that you probably not know, like farming, animal husbandry, etc). Conversation would be boring most of the time.
But in any population, there would be superior individuals that you would want to attract to your cause, so you would need the people skills to attract them.
Just for shits and grins, go read something about the history of technological development. Find about where all the stuff you take for granted came from. Then, if you notice any patterns, find out something about the societies that produced all the neat discoveries and toys.
Mr Google knows all.
