Yahoo! AnswersSikh men and turban?
Do you remove your turban only in front of other men and female relatives (like muslim women who remove their hijab in front of their male relatives and other women)? Or just simply at home? And if you never cut your hair, aren't you people have the longest hair on earth? Or you may cut your hair in certain condition or period
And why Sikh women aren't required to keep their hair uncut like their men?
Thank You!!!! ^_^ (No rude comment pls!!!)?

To answer your question simply, Sikh men are not to take off their turbans even in front of relatives.
The only time you should take off your turban is when you go to sleep, but even then you keep your head covered. But to take off someones turban is considered very disrespectful. Sikh men do not usually take off their turbans in front of relatives expect for maybe their spouses.
Also, your comment about if we don't cut our hair then aren't we the people who have the longest hair in the world? Well actually when you cut your hair, it grows more. So for a Sikh, if you never cut your hair then it only grows til a certian point and then stops. For instance my hair is only til about half way down my back if not shorter.
And in regards to your question about Sikh women, they are actually required to keep their hair uncut as well. But you may be confused because you may know Sikh's who cut their hair. The difference is that when you get baptized, take Amrit then you take a vow to never cut your hair along with other things. So you may even see Sikh women wear a different style of turban. You can probably even google this and find styles of Sikh womens turbans.
Hopefully this answered all your questions,
Take care
