I did Yoga for many years, just the physical part of it.
As you may know, you end the exercises with Sau Asana (sp ?) total relaxation ( which I found difficult in the beginning - got impatient).
So there you are, lying on your mat, covered by a warm blanket, the instructor, starting with your feet tells you to relax, feel that your feet are warm and let that warmth spread up through your calves, tells you that your limbs feel heavy and relaxed and so on and so forth until she reaches the top of your head. It is all very soothing. She also tells you that whatever worries you had when you arrived, you are to push aside and sort of blank out your mind and just lie there and relax. Well usually we just fell asleep, which you are not supposed to do.
Before I started doing Yoga I would have sworn, that I could not fall asleep lying flat on my back I usually had to lie on my stomach to fall asleep, but after a while - no problem.
Oh, and the relaxation also started with some breathing exercises and when you have to concentrate on following the counting, you cannot think of anything else, so perhaps BE and Hassan Yoga might be something for you .
