    For the last week, story after story has been released on the scandal of MP's and what they spend with taxpayers money.
    I must admit, after a week. 8 days of these relevations, i have gotten so apathetic to politics and probably won't vote in the upcoming election. Does it get your angry that MP's are spending thousands on homes, buying porn and cleaning moat?

    Time to clean the stables.

    What you need to do is vote against your MP next elec. Whoever it is and whatever they support, they need collective punishment for allowing it to happen in their house.

    One of the conventions of our nation is that the Queen has the power to dissolve Parliament, I hope she does so and we can all start afresh. Tabula Rasa!

    I cant believe an MP had the nerve to say he was not earning enough and asked the reporter how much she was earning! Mate you're on bloody ?64,000 a year so stop complaining, that's more than most of us earn!

    Problem is Parliament is sovereign. Any law that passes has to be done through Parliament and guess who votes? Commons and Lords! They ain't gonna vote for a bill that will limit their powers.

    But, if we have a complete overhaul based purely on this expenses issue it will be a warning message.

    One of them claimed for the upkeep of his moat, FFS.   Cheesy  Anyone that can afford a moat doesn't need to be claiming expenses off the tax payer.

    We need civilians overlooking everything they do and making sure they stay in line. Civilians have nothing to lose by this and so are the best judges.

     Cheesy I have an image of some crusty old Tory living in a castle with a harem of women all surrounded by a big moat.

    I wonder what effect this will have on the elections though?

    I doubt any scandal will ever be as juicy as the Profumo affair

    In my college, no one is voting. I don't know any 18yr old who will be voting and if i didn't force my older sister and Mom to vote. They wouldn't be either.
    I bet turnout will be record low ever.

    If any party deserves a landslide, it is UKIP and Greens.

    It's looking that way, according to the site they get about 100 new members a week and 200 calls a day. They are standing Nick Adolf Griffin in Liverpool for EU elections.

    Now, EU parliament is shite but if that lad gets a seat, that means the BNP will get hundreds of thousands of pounds to spend on their activities.

    In times of desperation the masses turn to extremism.

    Did you see their party political broadcast on the BBC day before yesterday - they must really have cleaned up their act to be allowed to do so?

    No, I didn't see it.  I don't think the Beeb are allowed to refuse part political broadcasts though, no matter how nasty the party.  As long as they're sticking to the law, the Beeb has to broadcast it, (I think).

    They had 2, the first one which was unaired was 4m30s long, the one you saw was 2:30, they did a lot of primming.

    That's what I thought.  I wonder what the opinion polls say though.  Are they likely to win any seats, does anyone know?

    If the law says they have to give them time if they are running for election then yes, it would apply to the Taliban. Mind you they'd probably be declared an illegal organisation before they got a chance to run for election.

    Anyway Germany couldn't imagine the Nazis. Just sayin'.

    According to the BBC news report:

    The national opinion polls are 4% for BNP and they need 8 for a seat.

    But they have chosen good locations with a lot of support and they raised mega bucks (about 375,000 in less than a month) so I'm guessing that Nick Griffin will be an EUMP on the Fourth of June thanks to the people in Liverpool.

    Labour is at 22, Conservatives 41 and Lib Dems 19.

    Some political commentators are thinking that if the anger at MP's expenses causes more apathy on an already apathetic and cynical british electorate, it'll give BNP a higher chance to get elected.
    Lets all keep in mind the EU and local elections are not done in the majority system but proportional system
    The threshold is 5% of the vote is needed for a seat, the last EU elections had a abysmal turnout and if it goes even lower, BNP may get the chance for over 3 seats

    And the law would give every party the chance, even a Taliban one.
    Depending on what their manifesto is they may be banned.

    That's quite worrying because I would imagine the BNP vote is underestimated by opinion polls, for similar reasons to Pakistani support for Sharia being overestimated.  A lot of people don't even admit to voting Tory to opinion pollsters, so I bet they're even less likely to admit to the BNP.
