    In this Sahih Bukhari hadith, Muhammad explains why a child sometimes resembles its father & sometimes its mother!  bunny

    Volume 4, Book 55, Number 546:Narrated Anas: "When Abdullah bin Salam heard the arrival of the Prophet at Medina, he came to him and said, "I am going to ask you about three things which nobody knows except a prophet: What is the first portent of the Hour? What will be the first meal taken by the people of Paradise? Why does a child resemble its father, and why does it resemble its maternal uncle?"

    Allah's Apostle said,"Gabriel has just now told me of their answersAbdullah said,"He (i.e. Gabriel), from amongst all the angels, is the enemy of the Jews." Allah's Apostle said, "The first portent of the Hour will be a fire that will bring together the people from the east to the west; the first meal of the people of Paradise will be Extra-lobe (caudate lobe) of fish-liver. As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble the father, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her." On that Abdullah bin Salam said, "I testify that you are the Apostle of Allah."

    So now we know why a child resembles a particular parent!  Wink

    Hahahaha! If anything is proof of the fallibility of Islam, that is. I can't see Dr Zakir Naik reinterpreting that and say "What we see here, is the prophet Muhammad (saw) is talking about what we have found out only in the last 50 years through the human genome project! How could he have known this 1400 years ago?!!"

    Nope, he was a Jew who converted to Islam, he was hugely respected by both Jews & non Jews in Arabia & he felt that Muhammad qualified as a Prophet according to Torah Scriptures!  bunny

    He asked these questions to Muhammad to find out if he was really a Prophet! Unfortunately Muhammad's answers seem highly superstitious & unscientific on hindsight  hush so I guess a modern man with even a limited knowledge of genetics would dismiss him as an imposter!

    P.S.:This is also written in the hadith.

    Why is Angel Gabe Angelic an enemy of the Jews amongst all the angels? Is it because he played a big part in the Jeebus story, & Jesus' followers caused loads of misery to Jews after that?

    But Abdullah bin Salam said "Only a prophet would know these things..."

    So how did Abdullah bin Salam know these things?

Until now, we do not know the role that may be played by the release of one fluid before the other in how the child will resemble one of his parents. Until and unless this is decisively determined in the future, we have no other choice but to simply believe what our Prophet (peace be upon him) said. He does not say anything except the truth.

    In fact, this should encourage medical scholars to investigate these matters and discover new things.''

    That's what i was thinking. I know a bit about genetics and I don't understand the question of whether a woman ejaculates or not is even a deciding factor. The man's ejaculation carries the sperm and this is then used to impregnance the woman's egg (which is inside her body and is not released when/if she ejaculates).

    This is funny & sad, Mohammed actually had the same misconception teenagers and guys who never learn about sex have. That men & women will cum just as often. He missed the part that 1 in 10 women will never have an orgasm in her life and that on the scale of 1 to 10, some women will only achieve a handful of orgasms in their life. Of course there is the 10 out 10 who will get an orgasm just by strolling in the produce department, but I think Mohammed displayed his lack of knowlege by this statement.

    I remember coming to this conclusion when i was a teenager and was first shown this hadith.
    "Ask the slave girl; she will tell you the truth.' So the Apostle called Burayra to ask her. Ali got up and gave her a violent beating first, saying, 'Tell the Apostle the truth.'"

    Oh, so THATS why I look like my mommys brother.

    Because she came first.
    We keep hearing about how Jack Straw or the French government have mentioned the veil and our doing so puts us in the same boat as them. How so? I want a ban on the burka, neqab and child veiling.
