    When this whole incident took place with this poor child. It completely shocked the nation. The tormentors and killers of this child got far less than what they deserved. When it comes to this type of thing IMHO more severe punishments need to de dealt out. The childs mother may even upon release get shipped out to Canada with a new identity. If these people are believers, they should be praying that the hell that they will be sent to for this crime is a myth! For monsters like this even hell would be an understaement!

    Lovely people. From what the article says it sounds like they are still trying to cover their arses and don't give a shit about the kid. I can't understand why people like that have children in the first place, or at the very least don't put them up for adoption if they don't really want them.

    I was reading this yesterday in the paper.  The other prisoners have actually put a price on the guys head, any prisoner that can get close enough to off him gets ?5000, so they keep him in solitary confinement, same as the bitch mum.

    Personally I would throw them both into a pit with the prisoners who most want to kill them, and sell hotdogs during the show.

    It is cases like this that causes me to try and remember why we do not sentence people to death.

    They are not even worthy to be called human, if they cannot act like one. Do not try and enjoy the benefits of one.

    It's unimaginable the suffering these three caused to this little boy. And unbelievable that social services was monitoring baby P while all this was happening. They should really never be let them out of prison. But there should be some work prisoners should be given to help pay their upkeep in the absence of the death penalty.

    How can there be god looking on at such events and turn a blind eye. Any normal human would put a stop to it but an omnipotent god with his divine plan cannot do anything. When things like this happens god does not make sense.

    I don't think there's any way to give them what they deserve without turning into monsters ourselves.  I don't think they should be let out though, just throw away the key.

    Fuck that. When it comes to scum like that i could care less about being humane. So many people these days try to relegate pure evil to "psychological issues" as if suddenly this explains it and we should now pity the evil instead of deal with it by taking out the rubbish.

    How many killers try to get off of a crime by claiming insanity? There are people out there who are just plain nasty, not crazy, go whine about my lack of humanity to a tree hugger not me.

    Clearly they are not "normal" if they are abusing, and killing others, that is the point I was making, if they were not mentally unstable they would not do any of these things, also many who are abused, later turn into abusers themselves. The baby is dead nothing can being it back now, it is time to move on, and out of the negative we can make a positive, by HELPING these guys not by ABUSING them. What makes you any better then the baby killers if you are suggesting they should be abused - clearly you also need help, and I really think you should go get help. It has nothing to do with being a tree hugger I am opposed to costotidal sentences and punishments for even the most ardent criminals.

    No.  They could abuse people, or even animals, in Somalia too.  They'd get away with it very easy, given the general lack of law and order.  No need to wish Britain's problems onto Somalia, she has enough problems of her own.   Just lock them up and leave them in prison for life.

    There are plenty of people who have been abused in Somalia by nuts, and indeed still are being.   Why the hell would we wish three more nuts on a society that has already suffered enough?

    British society produced them, let the British tax payer take responsibility by keeping them behind bars for the rest of their lives.

     I  have two main objections to the current tendency to categorise anyone who commits horrific acts against their fellow humans as  'mentally ill'
        1 - it does a disservice to people who genuinely are mentally ill , most of whom would never commit a crime like this . I have seen no reference to any of these people ever having been diagnosed with any illness . there was a suggestion that the boyfriend is of low intelligence / educationally subnormal , but that doesn't begin to excuse or explain such cruelty
        2 - it absolves people from responsibility for their actions .I can understand a parent snapping and lashing out at a child but the kind of deliberate , sadistic cruelty which these 'people ' meted out over a prolonged period of time is in a whole different category . I actually think the move towards treating people as victims in need of help contributed to this tragedy . a generation ago , this womans kids would have been taken from her some time ago . Instead well meaning but misguided social workers went to great lengths to keep the family together , even paying for child care , despite the fact that Connoly has never done a days work in her life ( how many single mothers are left struggling to hang on to any of their wages after paying for childcare?) . I wouldn't like to see a return to the days when children were whisked away from anyone deemed less than perfect but we've gone way too far in the other direction . It's all very well to try and support people who're struggling and keep families tigether , but at the end of the day the welfare of the child must take priority .
        I'm not  generally in favour of vigilantism but these sentences are woefully inadequate . ( Tut , are you seriously suggesting NOBODY should go to prison ? would you leave serial killers and paedophiles on the streets ? ) It's sickening that this woman will probably be free before next xmas , and we'll hav eto pay to protect her . I think at the end of their sentences they should all be givedn a choice between staying in prison voluntarily or taking their chances with the mob

    Because sometimes judges, prosecutors, juries and defense attorneys make mistakes. And putting someone to death is not a mistake that can be reversed.

    From what I read in that story, there was not sufficient evidence to convict any of these people of murder, so if anyone here who is demanding these people be tortured, killed, or locked away for life, has access to all the court proceedings and the full police investigation files, please post a summary for me with links to the full sources-- and if you don't, perhaps you should refrain from pronouncing death or life imprisonment as the appropriate penalty for a case you don't have all the details about*.

    If I ever get charged with a crime I didn't commit, I sure as hell hope I don't get some of you guys on my jury-- ready to convict me based on stories in the tabloids and accusations rather than hard evidence.

    *Excepting the guy who was also convicted of raping another child-- yeah, lock him up for life and send him into general pop to fend for himself instead of keeping him in seg. If he's raped and killed himself, oh well-- tough shit.

    We will have the technology to be even beyond positive if someone did something.

    I want life to mean life if i do not get death penalty.

     There was plenty of evidence of what they did . The only reason none of them were convicted of murder was because thet took advantage of the legal loophole that says where a group of people are involved in a crime and it can't be established beyond reasonable doubt exactly who did what , then none of them can be convicted

    If true, this law is a joke. This country is a joke if we no longer punish those who torture and kill AND rape children.

    Why bother following the law if you are out in a few months after spending it in a comfortable jail cell with a TV and food?

    I would also wish they drop dead, but I'm not God and nor are you.  Show some sense here, you don't have the right to offer up Somalia as a new home for them.  Being a Somalian in Britain who is unwilling to take responsibility through her own taxes does not give you the right to export Britain's problems to your mother country.  Only the people that live in that country have that right.
