  • I need your help with my new video

    Hello everyone,

    I'm in the process of making two new videos for my youtube channel. The first video is coming along nicely, but for the second video, I need some extra help.

    Basically, the video will be sort of a montage of all the ex-Muslims from youtube speaking briefly about their apostasy, and their current position on personal beliefs. The goal is to show people that it's possible for people to leave Islam. I've watched Hassan's video where he spoke about the reality of apostasy, and I've been inspired to make a similar video pulling in as many apostates from youtube as possible.

    The reason I want to do this is because I too have been getting rather annoying messages from Muslims yapping on about how it's impossible for any 'true' Muslims to leave the faith.

    So help me out here. List as many apostates you know who makes youtube videos about religion--I'm just interested in those who are now Atheists/Agnostics--no christian fundies please. After I get the list, I'll contact them and have them send me a small clip of them speaking about this issue.

    If you are struggling for content  you could read out the last 2 paragraphs of my blog:

    "My personal belief is that I should try my best to lead a good life, and not to treat others in a way that I would not expect to be treated myself.  Then the rewards will not only be available to me by whatever, if anything, is out there, but during my life also.  I have found it leads to a richer existence as the rules you follow are those that you think are right, and not prescribed by volumes written in the 7th century.  And I will leave the religion to all those people who wish to follow it.

    A true religion would be faultless and immediately inspiring, as it would be put together by our all knowing, all seeing, creator  - this one has missed the mark by a long way for me. "

    I think most have been mentioned - there were others who have briefly appeared then gone for one reason or another.

    Aziz has lots of vids - and I think he could be persuaded to record a few words (with face hidden if he likes) - or just text for you to add.

    There are some Christian ones like AmanaKhan too.

    There was also that Islam789 guy - I think that was his nick -and maybe a couple of others - lemmie check and get back to u.

    In fact most posters here have Youtube accounts - perhaps they could all be persuaded to do a few seconds for your montage - why not?

    I think it's a fantastic I dea and if we all favourite it and put as our Channel video it should get lots of views  Afro

    C'mon guys - here's your chance to make that youtube vid (well a few seconds) that you've always wanted to make.

    Put a halloween mask on if you like... erm... second thoughts... that might not send the message we want lol - better just record your voice over a picture of a beautiful landscape or ducks on a pond lol  grin12

    Thanks for the help everyone.

    For those of you here who has never made a video/audio recording and would like to for my new video, you can easily download Audacity for windows--it's free. Also, you can record yourself with camera (no matter the quality), and give the clip to me. I'll then go ahead and add it to my video.

    Don't worry if you don't have an youtube account, I'll make the distinction between who is from Youtube and who is from COEM forum.

    Great idea. I'd be happy to contribute.

    Another way of doing it, however, might be in the style of the Microsoft 'I'm a PC' ads. Rather than have each person give a lengthy account of their apostasy, why not get loads of people to say something along the lines of 'My name is ...... and I'm an ex-Muslim'. You might have trouble getting a lot of people to do it though.

    That''s a great idea, but I highly doubt most apostates would be willing to release their real names, for obvious safety reasons.

    By the way, just so we are clear, no one has to say their real names on the video. I'll add your username from COEM or Youtube instead.

    Can't record a video of myself, I don't have a camera. I've got a microphone and could be persuaded to record something for ya, but I don't have a text and I'm so lazy at the moment and can't think of anything to write down. lipsrsealed

    You could freestyle, and just explain in a few sentences why you left Islam (read one of your posts if you are feeling really lazy).  Your laptop or computer might even have a built-in webcam for recording audio or visual.

    Couldn't downloaded it - but shouldn't we clarify what Tommy want exactly first. Should we go with the sort of "Hi, my name is (real or nickname) and I'm an ex-Muslim" type thingy and then Tommy can add some blurb.

    You don't need to show your face or give your real name - Tommy could just have a sort of generic avatar there saying "Does not wish to be identified" (or something like that).

    I REALLY like the idea of "I'm a PC" type Ad.

    Tommy - you could just get as many of us to say things like:

    Hello, I'm an ex-Muslim and I've been made into a steryotype

    I'm an Ex-Muslim and I'm not a bad person

    I'm an Ex-Muslim and I have Muslim friends and family.

    I'm an Ex-Muslim and a human being

    And then add whatever things you wanted to say.

    Guys here is what I want you to do and say:

    1) Record an audio clip/video clip and say "My name is.....(use a nickname if you're uncomfortable with using your real name) and I'm an Ex-Muslim Atheist/Agnostic.

    2) "...and I'm also a..." (Father, brother, sister, video gamer, artist, lovable etc.)

    3)"...I believe in.." (List three things)

    4) "In my spare time..." (List all the thing you like to do in your spare time)


    I think you guys get the gist of where I'm going with this project. Basically I want to show people that although we are ex-Muslims, we are still the same people we were as Muslims in a lot of ways. Sure our views on the life may have changed, but that doesn't make us bad in anyways."

    Hassan, I'd love it if you would put the final video in your channel.  Afro

    If you guys have anything you want to add to my four things above, please do so.

    What I'd like for you to avoid is any ill treatment of any Islamic or Biblical texts (like tearing the pages out or something) or even cursing at people with faith. Remember, this project is about you as a person. This is not another video that gives arguments for people to disbelieve in religion. I'm trying to show that ex-Muslims DO exist, and we are as Human as the next Muslim.

    True but I'll be contacting ex-Muslims in Youtube who already show their faces. I think if I add in those who doesn't want to show their faces along with those who do--it'll balance it out. I'll just say "This person doesn't wish to show his/her face"

    Dear Emerald, I would advice against it especially when you are still living in KSA. Your voice could be recognized by some of your best friends (if you know what I mean) and might tip some bearded gangs of Al-Nahee Ala Al-Monkar Wa Al-Amer Bil-Ma3roof clan!!! Maybe I am paranoid, but please be careful. There are programs where you can alter your voice pitch a little.

    I downloaded it but can only hear a very faint intermittent voice. Could you record this again IsLame and maybe turn up the mike volume?
