I read out here & in other links that the name Abu Bakr means "father of a virgin." It also says that he was given this name when he wed his young daughter to Muhammad.
http://www.hyperhistory.net/apwh/bios/b1bakr_abu.htmIs this true? Other sources say that "bikr" means virgin & bakr means "young camel" but why would someone be named something like father of a camel? A name with meaning, usually has someone good meaning, why will someone give such a name?
Does it make sense naming people mother of a donkey\horse etc?
If Abu Bakr means father of a virgin, was Ayesha the only virgin girl in Arabia, or her virginity was something special? Or was it because she was such a little girl?
That seems to be a Xtian site so it may be biased, this site also says that Abu Bakr means, "father of a virgin."
