    In my final year now in Uni and I have no idea what I want to do :(  My mind is drawing a blank. Any ideas anyone? Tongue I want it to be based around web design. Just don't know what.

    Hmm
    - UI/UX of social networking (on the web)
    - UI/UX of web design on netbooks/smartphones
    - How to utilize web features appropriately (the existence of FireFox extentions like Script blocking or Flash blocking proves users are sometimes annoyed with all the scripts/flash embedding on a page)

    The above are mostly research based.

    You could get more ideas on a web design forum.

    Help me out here: what sort of thing would they be looking for? Just in general terms. I've never had to do a thesis so I need some more clues. Maybe links to previous ones in the same field would be a good start for getting ideas.

    HighOctane, those are interesting ideas. I prefer to do something more practical though as I want to improve my web skills with this project (my current ones are shite). I'll look into a web design forum for some ideas.

    Os, a dissertation is basically a research based project. It can either be research for a practical application (software, website, etc which you have to create) or research on a certain subject with a recommendation at the end. I'll provide a better description once my uni's site starts working again (it's broken atm, surprise surprise...).

    Web design. Perfect thesis subject: why are the developers of Internet Explorer such retarded bastards?

    Got two ideas now. Bf suggested creating a Web application framework. Seems a bit complicated considering my very poor skills in programming. Good excuse to improve them though. BF said he'll help me.

    The other is creating a random web page generator which creates different layout styles when you refresh it, and gives you the code for it. Target audience would be newbie web designers.

    Ah. You should check out the famous Zen Garden then. The code needs updating but the idea is good.
