  • Should I Accept This Video Response?

    I got this as a video response to my "Prophets of Islam Video".

    And as a bigger question - should one allow things to be said - on one's Youtube channel for example - that one strongly disagrees with - or believes incites violence and hatred?

    Don't do it. State that you do not approve of all the hateful and inciteful comments on your channel or vids, but you do not have all day to be the censor nanny, clearly state your views- should be good.
    I chose to get circumcised at 17, don't tell me I never believed.

    I watched a couple of minutes of it - I don't see it as inaccurate or off base.

    If Muslims don't like what he says in the videos then they should get off their ass and do something about the situation instead of wasting time with their head facing in the direction of mecca and their ass in the air five times a day.

    Of course the fact that fundamentalist Christians in the US form the backbone of the KKK, and have been responsible for the bombings and murders at several abortion clinics, is evidence that every Christian is a potential terrorist. There are lots of devout Christians living among us.

    There is nothing muslims can do or say to change the mind of a person like that.  If they condemn people like Major Hasan they are dismissed as taqqiya merchants, if they stay silent they are accused of agreeing with it.  That entire view of muslims is based on the No True Scotsman fallacy and it isn't worth wasting time on, (other than to point out the fallacy).  It would also not be clever for Hassan to have that particular individual's vids on his channel, given some of the loopiness we all know Ali Sina is capable of.

    Thanks guys - I was going to instinctively reject it, but thought I'd pose the question here first.

    Of course people are free to state their opinion - and he has done so on his youtube channel - but that doesn't mean I have to let him attach his rants to my videos.

    You don't think it is "inaccurate" or "off base" to to say that the US war on terrorism should be a war to eradicate Islam? Or that all Muslims are either terrorists or potential terrorists? Or suggest that your Muslim friend, spouse, or parents could suddenly murder you in the name of Allah?

    One might view it as inaccurate but at the same time Muslims should ask themselves why there is that perception of Islam and Muslims out there. Perception is reality.

    Again I stress - when there is a Muhammad cartoon there is a protest organised within hours of it happening. When there is a call to to protest against shariah law - isn't it funny that all those people who took the time to protest about the Muhammad cartoons are suddenly absent.

    The hate of Islam rests on the belief that Muslims want to take over the country and impose shariah law. If you address the issue of shariah law then the surface area of attack shrinks dramatically to the point that you're left with a small fringy christian group whining about doctrinal issues that aren't worth a pinch of shit.

    14396 terrorist attacks have happened since September 11. How many Christian terrorist attacks have happened since September 11? the last time I looked, I didn't see a person practicing 'fundamentalist jainism' blow themselves in a fit of inner peace.

    That's true to some extent but also incorrect to a large extent. "Perception is reality" is the mantra among business types, PR, marketing etc. It's the basis for all advertising, but it's really bull. The economic facades are built on selling us the "sizzle" and not "the steak" as they say... and many times our very business oriented culture starts believing in its own bullshit. And as for "The Secret" and all those things, while there are studies that show that our attitude and cognitive understanding of life events can relieve stress and thereby make us more sensitive to positive aspects of life, there's no proof that thinking actually creates or changes physical reality. That's the mistake of solipsism.

    Well that is exactly it Os, Christian Abortioncides are committed by uneducated, mal-adjusted fundies, who by all means, are being monitored, and prevented from advancing through the ranks of the army.

    By contrast the Muslim terrorists who committed actions in the West, were educated, often highly so, engineers, tutors to younger kids, doctors. They are not being properly monitored. They will not be denied access through the ranks, mainly because the higher up in the West only learned to look  for & deal with signs of Christian fundamentalism.

    It will take some time to detect the muslim fundametalists, and learn how to deal with them. A problem is that in the meantime, a lot of good muslims will get targetted. The worse problem is that, since islam appeals to such a wide range of psychological profiles, that phenomenon will only widen the net thrown to catch muslim fundies.

    I'm about tired of hearing this shit. How many Muslims died or risked their lives fighting the extremists in Afghanistan or Algeria, while you were sitting on YOUR ass, safe in New Zealand? I'm sick of people blaming all Muslims for the acts of the extremists, especially when there are more Muslims dying from extremist attacks than anyone else, and more of them suffering under the yoke of religiosity, when many would prefer living in a more secular environment-- talk about blaming the victim.

    If Jews don't like what Hamas says in their videos, they should get off their ass and do something about the occupation of the West Bank. If Blacks don't like what David Duke says in his videos then they should get off their ass and do something about the criminals in their neighborhoods.

    Bullshit. New Zealand has troops in Afghanistan, so why don't you join the NZDF and fight the good fight yourself before accusing other people of not doing enough? There's plenty of other things besides that you could do as well-- but don't just complain online then accuse other people of "not doing enough" or "wasting time"

    Organizers are in communication with the Fort Hood office of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to determine the best approach for the disbursement of funds.

    We invite you to support this effort to respond to the plight of families in distress. ISNA is asking Mosques across the country to encourage members to donate.

    Please announce the new fund during your Jum?ah prayer and weekly gatherings.

    Not that I defend the EDL, but their members here made it very clear that they did NOT blame all Muslims for the actions of the extremists.
