It has a bit of a strong recoil though.. doesn't it?
In comparison with some other assault rifles, like the AR-15, yes-- but generally-speaking no, and it had a lot less recoil than any of the rifles that preceded it, and many battle rifles that came after it (like the G3 or FN-FAL). The AK-74 and AK-101 have less recoil than the AK-47 due to having lighter rounds. AR-15 still has a lower recoil than those two AK models, but that's due to a direct impingement gas operation system which increases fouling and wear on the chamber, leading to malfunctions and shortening the service life of the weapon considerably. The AK-107 has a recoil comparable to the AR-15 due to a "balanced" double long-stroke piston operation.
Long and short of it-- the AK-47 has a bit more recoil than some other later-designed assault rifles, it's still more than manageable, especially in semi-auto, and the later Kalashnikov models have recoil comparable to late-model NATO assault rifles.
Seriously, though, although I could sing the praises of the beauty and brilliance of the Kalashnikov design for many posts, this is moving way off topic, so unless we are going to go back to discussion of Hello Kitty guns (which does at least indirectly relate to KimDonesia)
, if you'd like to discuss this further we should start another thread or take it to PMs.
