    I was wondering, why should a Muslim woman wear a hijab when praying even if she is alone? From whom is she covering herself? First of all, Allah supposed to have created her, then who said anything about Allah is a male God?  Huh?

    Haha, I used to think about such things well. Is God lusting after me during prayer or something? I really don't know why Muslim women have to cover during prayers.

    Because it is a ruling. That in order for her prayer to be 'valid', she must cover her 'awrah'.

    we know that.  we were questioning why, given the existing logic that the hijab is some form of protection from men.

    I understand that women must cover their awrah from men, but when she's alone and with God so to speak, why must she? He created her, he supposedly knows my body better than I do. He supposedly has no sexual functions, so why does it matter to wear hijab when alone in prayer?

    Exactly, Mango and IsLame.... that was my point. In fact this point was made by my wife who thanks Goood apostated just like myself. She could not understand the need to protect herself from God...

    Allegedly because Allah loves chaste and devout women only.  Not that that covering your head with a piece of cloth is a guarantee of that in real life

    The conditions of 'validitiy of prayer', state that the 'awrah', for both men and women, must be covered. This is a general rule, and applies whether they are alone, or in congregation.

    Your argument could be valid if we are taking about people.... we are talking here about the creator. A women should be able to pray in a T-shirt and shorts especially in summer long hot days in the middle east is she is alone in a closed room!!

    In the view of 'Islam, it's 'valid', since that's what is mentioned in Hadeeth.

    One must observe modesty, when praying. The rule simply applies for all situations. There is no specific rules for specific situations.

    Yeah. Al'Naql is the Qu'ran and Hadeeth. Al'Aql is logic, reason etc

    I don't view it as stupid. Since Islam is submission as you know, and one has to accept the legal texts, when they accept Islam.

    To obey nonsensical rules without reason and without question is definitely feeble minded.  I don't think Galileo would approve.

    But, if one doesn't want to obey the rules without questioning them, and possibly disagreeing, then one can simply not join the Religion in the first place. But to join the Religion, and begin questioning the rules, that in my view is stupid.

    I agree. I see Muslim converts jumping in thinking that they can 'do their own thing' or 'practice a more reformed minded Islam' but the reality is that Islam, like any other religion, is a communal practice. Whether you like it or not, you'll eventually find yourself forced into doing things that, before converting, would have found stupid and irrational.

    If people don't like the religious practice - then leave. It is as stupid as I heard from the 'make me a muslim' programme some dip shit going on about how wonderful it is to pray 5 times a day - well, if you fucking well want to pray five times a day, you don't need to label yourself a Muslim to do that! just fucking well do it!

    What you need to do is to establish if Islam is man-made or corrupted like all the other religions. We are able to do this by finding human flaws exposed within its texts that would otherwise not have been possible by an omnipotent Master.   I am sure you always use this to method to expose other religions yet remain closed to any enquiry from within.  Take a look at my signature Wink

    This is how all discoveries and falsehoods are exposed, and sadly if you support Naql over Aql then
    you will never know if all thats all your ancestors were doing from day one.

    What really gets me about awrah and namaz is that although a woman is supposed to pray in the deepest, darkest closet in her house she STILL has to cover up!  WTF!

    When I prayed regularly with my husband, although I accepted the fact that I had to put on hijab in order to do namaz I absolutely REFUSED to stand behind him as I felt that I was praying to the ballsack in front of me instead of Allah therefore I stipulated that as long as we did namaz together I would stand beside him as his equal and he didn't argue with me on this.  Probably because he was afraid of the repercussions if he did.

    Allah is most insecure indeed if he requires a woman to completely cover herself up in shame and in the deepest, darkest hole in her house (excluding the toilet, of course) in order for her prayer to be valid.  wacko

    True.. I very much agree with you.  

    However the people promoting the religion should be responsible enough to advertise all its rules and principles...
