But, if one doesn't want to obey the rules without questioning them, and possibly disagreeing, then one can simply not join the Religion in the first place. But to join the Religion, and begin questioning the rules, that in my view is stupid.
I agree. I see Muslim converts jumping in thinking that they can 'do their own thing' or 'practice a more reformed minded Islam' but the reality is that Islam, like any other religion, is a communal practice. Whether you like it or not, you'll eventually find yourself forced into doing things that, before converting, would have found stupid and irrational.
If people don't like the religious practice - then leave. It is as stupid as I heard from the 'make me a muslim' programme some dip shit going on about how wonderful it is to pray 5 times a day - well, if you fucking well want to pray five times a day, you don't need to label yourself a Muslim to do that! just fucking well do it!
