    When was the last time Muslims rioted over a documentary? Oh that's right, never.

    Besides, its not like this doc is supposed to be critical of christianity.

    Kawai, I think we're all down with dissin Muslim in these forums, but lets keep it in the realm of reality instead of over-extended generalisations.  Wink

    Why use the term 'the Muzzies'?

    Its loaded with dismissive bigotry.

    Everyone here has got issues with Islam and some (even a fair percentage) of Muslims and Islamic ideology, but you keep using generalised terms that you expect to find on hate sites.

    'the Muzzies' is just a lazy, dismissive phrase that doesn't do you or this site any favours.

    Mate, quite frankly - who gives a shit what happened 400 years ago - or are you claiming that Muslims magically inhabit a different time than the rest of humanity does?     How is it a gross generalisation that at the drop of a hat Muslims congregate  and protest over the most trivial shit like the Muhammad Cartoons, Muhammad the teddy bear and so forth? Christ, I look at the way some Muslims behave and wondering whether we're occupying the same time/space continuum or whether I'm looking into a parallel universe when I see the crap unfold.

    Someone asked about when was there a reaction to a documentary; funny how people forget the furrier created by Greert Wilders 'Fitna' or 'Submission' by Hersi Ali/Theo van Gogh. Then again, selective memories by some here help avoiding the reality of the 'religion of peace'(tm).

    There are many flirting Muslims just like you used to be.  In fact my guess is the majority of the worlds musims dont pray 5 times a day nor go to the mosque regularly.

    When you write your vitriol, just be careful not to address it to all Muslims otherwise you message gets lost - call them taleban types or something.

    Using the term 'the muzzies' is cheap and lazy and it has a tinge of something nasty. Please try and understand why, don't get in my face about all of that; its a simple point - qualify your observations and don't use the language of hate sites.

    True that.  You don't need to go back 400 years either.  In the 50s and 60s, the Catholic church, although far more benign then what it was during the time of the inquisition, was still quite a powerful influence in politics over here and in other countries.  Even today dressing up as a priest or as Jesus for a laugh can get you to court over here, so one has to be a bit careful when hosting a priests and prostitutes fancy dress party.  But as long as you don't do it in certain areas, you should be safe..

    Yeah, those horrible Catholics - like how the Catholic church in New Zealand lobbied against bibles in public schools, promotion of Catholic primary and secondary schools, and the close affiliation between the church and the Labour Party in regards to social justice - welfare, unemployment benefit, solo mum assistance. Damn those Catholics! damn them and their promotion of secularity and social justice!

    I'm not denying that Catholic church never helped anyone or did any good.  To its credit it does help a lot of people, even non Christians.  I am talking about a time here in my country when the priests made voting for a certain political party a sin.  (Not that the political party involved was a champion of justice I can tell you).  It got voted out, which although was a good thing, was not ethically correct.  People affiliated with that party couldn't even receive the sacraments.  That was its power.
