Awesome! Read about this in the NME the other day, nice to see RATM won.
I love RATM.
Too bad they're Communists. (no offense Miss Namazie)
1. I'm not sure they are Communists. De La Rocha strongly supports the EZLN and flirted with the RCP (though I don't think he was ever a member), but always expressed more anarchist leanings than anything else. The most political member of the band is Tom Morello, who I also think flirted with the RCP, but, again, has expressed mostly pro-anarchist sentiments, and is an IWW supporter. Today describes himself as a "non-sectarian socialist" and mostly supports/advocates for labor unions, national liberation struggles, and other left-wing causes without regard to particular "party line". Not sure about the other two members of the band.
2. RATM's politics have helped made them what they are. Don't think they'd be the same without the radical political edge. Like The Clash or Public Enemy.
