I saw a nature documentary today, where a bull frog opened up a passage between one small pond and the larger pond. The tadpoles were stuck in small pond, and the sun would have dried them out. So the frog used his legs to clear the mud and then push the tad poles into the much larger pond.
things like that amaze me too. but if you look at it from an evolutionary perspective it kinda makes sense. those that were not hard-wired to do something like that, then they would be less likely to be around today.
same thing with trying to understand how animals instinctively know how to mate. I wonder if we humans would have worked it out had we not been told, and instead stuck to the other 2 orifices instead?
