Oh its definitely better than the average fantasy film story... but I dont know, I felt like something was missing. It didnt take away from me loving the movie though.
For me it was perfect, and nothing was missing. The tragic ending was the cheery on the top of an already well presented cake.

Not a fan of that movie, but in general I like shakespeare, othello - the lawrence fishbourne one, is magnificent.
I watched it with a friend of mine, and at the end of the movie we both turned to each other to see if the other one was crying, we ended up hugging and consoling each other, because when I say we were crying, we were sobbing our hearts out.

It's one of my fondest friendship memories, that connection, and those tears.
