     OP - March 20, 2010, 02:52 PM

This guy emails me out of the blue, I was bored, so I thought what the heck

    [14:25:06] Abbas Merali: hello
[14:25:10] Abbas Merali: sorry about the wait
[14:25:28] Saif Mohammad Madni: No prob. OK SO TELL ME YOUR EXPERIENCE
[14:25:39] Abbas Merali: first tell me a bit about yourself
[14:25:55] Abbas Merali: why do you want to know, are you having doubts or are you trying to 'fix' me?
[14:26:10] Saif Mohammad Madni: Well my first name is Saif and I am a muslim and live in KSA
[14:26:27] Saif Mohammad Madni: I usually debate with ex muslims
    [14:26:40] Abbas Merali: why?
[14:26:49] Saif Mohammad Madni: U living in birmingham
[14:27:42] Saif Mohammad Madni: Why are you asking/
    [14:27:45] Saif Mohammad Madni: ?
    [14:27:56] Saif Mohammad Madni: Wink
[14:28:23] Saif Mohammad Madni: Even I debate with christians
    [14:28:45] Saif Mohammad Madni: .
[14:29:05] Abbas Merali: I wanted to know what your stance on the issue was. I'm warning you before i go on, I'm extremely certain that my life is where I want it to be, if you feel Islam fulfils you, congratulations.
[14:29:21] Abbas Merali: do you have any qualifications?
[14:30:26] Saif Mohammad Madni: No. Ok so if you feel that fine. You just tell me why. This guy Antonio Santana also says he is an ex muslim. I did a skype talking debate with him
    [14:30:49] Saif Mohammad Madni: (~)
[14:31:49] Abbas Merali: There isn't one single pinnacle reason which makes me an agnostic
[14:32:00] Abbas Merali: its a culmination of several reasons
[14:32:10] Abbas Merali: but to list a few reasons
[14:32:16] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok tell me the main reasons
[14:33:04] Abbas Merali: there is no proof of God, every day we find out more about the universe in the fields of quantum physics and biology
[14:33:27] Saif Mohammad Madni: Oh so you are an athiest
[14:33:42] Abbas Merali: Did I say that? No
[14:34:04] Saif Mohammad Madni: Because yousaid there is not proof of Gos
[14:34:21] Abbas Merali: There is equally no proof that he doesn't exist
[14:34:32] Abbas Merali: don't pull words out of my mouth that arent there
    [14:34:32] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok
[14:34:43] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok Ok relax
[14:34:53] Abbas Merali: one of the first things i said was that i was an agnostic
    [14:35:10] Abbas Merali: anyway
    [14:35:13] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok
[14:35:17] Abbas Merali: the problem is
[14:35:38] Saif Mohammad Madni: what ?
[14:36:24] Saif Mohammad Madni: So what the heck are you christian, Jew, Athiest secular etc.................. (envy)
    [14:36:45] Abbas Merali: Agnostic
[14:36:47] Abbas Merali: look it up
[14:36:52] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok Ok
[14:37:10] Saif Mohammad Madni: I got ur email from ex muslims website
[14:37:26] Saif Mohammad Madni: why are you afraid to debate
[14:37:34] Abbas Merali: the abrahamic god that muslims believe in is a cruel and sadistic god that defeats logic
[14:37:48] Abbas Merali: if he is all knowing and life is a test, everything is predetermined
[14:37:56] Abbas Merali: thats the thing
[14:38:09] Saif Mohammad Madni: Where in the world did you get that logic that he is cruel?
[14:38:41] Saif Mohammad Madni: You should not listen to people like Nonie Darwish who just wants to put a bad picture on Islam
[14:38:53] Saif Mohammad Madni: And Wafa Sultan
[14:39:17] Saif Mohammad Madni: I  do not believe that Nonie Darwish is a ex muslim
[14:39:35] Saif Mohammad Madni: She says that Muslim women are not allowed to ask for divorce
[14:39:57] Abbas Merali: whatever man, i was telling you why i'm an ex muslim, I don't have the patience to debate
[14:40:13] Saif Mohammad Madni: ok ok okok
    [14:40:17] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok
[14:40:19] Abbas Merali: if you're gonna go off at a tangent and keep interrupting me then I have better things to do
[14:41:52] Abbas Merali: tell me Saif, have you ever seen a person die of cancer?
[14:42:05] Saif Mohammad Madni: Not live
[14:42:47] Abbas Merali: some people get cancer through no fault of their own
[14:42:57] Saif Mohammad Madni: That is true
[14:43:07] Abbas Merali: i have a friend who contracted leukemia at the age of 14
    [14:43:18] Saif Mohammad Madni: yea,so
[14:43:33] Abbas Merali: God loves you more than your mother, do you agree?
    [14:43:43] Saif Mohammad Madni: Yea
[14:44:01] Abbas Merali: If your mother had the power to stop you from getting cancer
[14:44:07] Abbas Merali: she would stop the cancer wouldnt she?
[14:44:19] Abbas Merali: yes or no answer
[14:44:36] Saif Mohammad Madni: Yea why not, but if God wills he may give cancer to give him something better
[14:44:49] Abbas Merali: giving with one hand and taking with another?
[14:44:58] Abbas Merali: what kind of God is that?
[14:45:06] Abbas Merali: my mother would do anything for me unconditionally
[14:45:27] Abbas Merali: she wouldnt give me cancer so that i could have a few sweets....
[14:46:20] Saif Mohammad Madni: Sweets. Ok let us take, suppose you go and hurt one of your friends and that friend complaints to your mother, and she beats you would you say that what sort of mother she is
[14:46:53] Abbas Merali: a terrible mother
[14:46:55] Abbas Merali: beating a child is abuse
[14:47:21] Abbas Merali: not just that
[14:47:25] Saif Mohammad Madni: Ok she would say very good keep doing it?
    [14:48:30] Saif Mohammad Madni: l;
    [14:48:33] Saif Mohammad Madni: ??
[14:48:39] Abbas Merali: she should discipline you but she should never HARM you. Cancer is not discipline. Nor is malaria, HIV or cerebral palsy
[14:48:57] Abbas Merali: Cancer HARMS you. thats the difference.
[14:49:24] Saif Mohammad Madni: cancer is as a punishment  or a method to remove wrongdoing
    [14:49:56] Abbas Merali: excuse me?
[14:50:19] Abbas Merali: care to explain how a god that loves you more than your mother would discipline you in such a way?
[14:50:27] Saif Mohammad Madni: I have to go now. Tomarrow, at the same timne. Tg
    [14:50:32] Saif Mohammad Madni: Thanx

    Be yourself.

    Interesting.

[14:38:09] Saif Mohammad Madni: Where in the world did you get that logic that he is cruel?

How about quoting some particularly nasty bits of Quran to him?

wait, didn't he come back the next day like he said? it doesn't necessarily mean that he ran away like a coward. maybe he really was busy. but if he didn't come back to continue the debate, that's a different story.

Good point Moe. It just seemed so sudden, he was pushing for a debate. Maybe he really had to go.
