     OP - March 29, 2010, 10:10 PM

    Okay, well, hello everyone.

some of you may know, that in roughly 2 Months, i will have my first of many important exams to become a teacher for 4 to 6 graders.

Now, since the Internet is my main source of Information, and i thought, there are so many educated people around the Globe visiting this site, i use this to my advantage for learning.

And this is ( at least i hope ) how it works. I will post here all the classes and fields of knowledge i will be tested, and each of you asks me a question in a field of your chosing. These questions can be as detailed as you like. I will try to awnser the questions once a day. I hope i will find many participants. When i awnsered your question, you can ask another one. Pretty simple.

Okay, here are the Areas of Knowledge that will be tested:

    History

    - French Revolution
    - World War 2
    - Switzerland during the second World War

    Math

    - Trigonometry
    - Stereometry
    - Stochastics
    - powers
    - calculus  of  probabilities
    - equotions and functions
    - Statistics

    Biology

    - the five senses (Eye, ear, nose, skin, tongue)
    - the human nerv system
    - Evolution
    - genetics
    - mitosis and mayosis

    Physics

    - Optics (Light, Shadow, Eflexions, colors)
    - Acustics
    - Electricism (Magnetism, laws of electric circuits, Electromagnetism)
    - Mechanics (Speed, Force and Mass, Liquids and Gas)
    - Energy (Work and Energy, Energystorage)
    - Radioactivity

    Geography

    - Meteorology (Atmosphere, Climate zones, climate changes and dangers to the climate)
    - Geology (priniples anf geologic methods, endogene dynamics: plate tectonic, earthquakes, vulcanism)
    - Geological structures in Switzerland
    - Apls, midlands and jura
    - Cultural geography (agrageconomics, industry and service. social structures, globalisation, problems and solutions for overpopulation)

    Music

    - repiation (hear - understand)
    - producing (invent-imagine)
    - reproduce (mimic - reform)
    - transformation (link-redesign)
    - refelction (think-cause)

Well, thats it... I didnt think you guys could help me with german, so i left it out.

Thatnks for every help i will get.

    best wishes, Digdeep  dance

Your first question on the following topic: the five senses (Eye, ear, nose, skin, tongue)

There are more then 5, what are the rest?

For a more serious one, I don't know anything about the French Revolution, can you give me a basic (and short) overview please?

People of France were starving while the monarchy and nobles lived lives of excess. The people overthrow the government and radical left wing nationalists take over and give new freedoms while executing all political enemies.

ok I GOT AN EASY PEASY ONE!...
what are the names of the 5 layers the atmosphere can be divided into...? and how are they determined..?? and yes this is one question with 3 parts. 3rd part.. is 'how will you handle the rugrats that do not listen to instruction?"
  • Re: Challenge me!

    Layers of Atmosphere:

Troposphere (0-10km), Stratosphere (10-50km), mesosphere (50-80km), thermosphere (80-100km), and the Inonosphere above this.

Then theres the Ozonsphere, wich is from slightly above the tropopause to slightly above the stratopause.

The different spheres are determined by 1. Temperature, and 2. Ionisation of air molecules.

    Where does meiosis take place?

In the nervous system, what is the refractory period? and what causes it?

Which part of the eye is avascular?

Since you are teaching 4th-6th graders is that the sort of level you are going to be tested in?

In the meantime here are some questions.

    1. State the Law of Conservation of Energy.

    2. What is the total resistance if 3 resistors of 10 ohm, 15 ohm and 30 ohm are connected in:
    a. Parallel?
    b. Series?

    3. In humans, what is the number of chromosomes present in cells which are a result of
    a. A meiosis cell division? (it's not mayosis btw  Roll Eyes)
    b. A mitosis cell division?

    4. Which of the 2 types of cell division is responsible for the formation of gametes (sex/reproduction cells)?

    5. In a right angled triangle, Sin(x) is 0.5 and the hypotenuse has a length of 5 cm. Find:
    a. The length of the adjacent to the angle x
    b. The angle x .(I used 0.5 so in case you are not allowed to use a calculator you should be able to tell the angle anyways)

    6. If an object of mass 5kg is dropped 20m above the surface of the earth, what is its final velocity? (Take g=9.81ms^-2)
(You can use 2 methods here. Kinematics or conservation of energy.)

    7. Find the possible values of x for the following
    a. x^2 + 7x - 8 = 0
    b. x^2 - 9x - 12 = 0
    c. 4x^2 - 9 + 15 = 0

Well, thanks for the many questions, lets see:

In the nervous system, what is the refractory period? and what causes it?

a refractory period is a time when an organ or a cell is not able to repeat an action.

    1. State the Law of Conservation of Energy.

The total amount of Energy in an isolated system remains constant.

I actually have no idea, please tell me.

I will awnser the rest later, i just dont have enough time right now. I will do the math and physic calculations when i got more time.

Prove that the square of every prime number other than 2 and 3 is in the form 6n+1 with n a natural number

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

a refractory period is a time when an organ or a cell is not able to repeat an action.

You're right but I specified "in the nervous system" so you should relate it to action potential. Also you didn't tell me what causes it.

    Here are some more:

-what is the difference between the cytoplasmic division in plant cells and animal cells?
    -what is crossing over?
-what are rods and cones? and which is responsible for color perception?

Inner core (1370 km), outer core (2100 km), lower mantle (2200 km) and upper mantle (600-700 km). Above that are the oceanic crusts and the continental crusts. Both together are called, the moho disconuity added, the Lithosphere.
