    I know many major sins, but what exactly are some minor sins. I tried finding some on the internet but I can't find a list. I remember one time I fasted one day (during hajj week) or something like that. Anywho, i fasted and the brothers told me that since you fasted, Allah will forgive you from all your sins. I was like sweet! he told me it only covers minor sins. I was sooooooooo disappointed. Who cares if some minor sins are wiped clean, I still got so many major ones which are hard as fuck to get rid of.


    Do any of you know some minor sins?

    That is the one thing I can never understand about Islam, this 'minor' and 'major' sin's - who decides which is minor and major? basic Christian and Jewish theology will tell you that a sin is a sin is a sin - there is no triaging of sins - you either sin or you didn't.

    The major ones (gunah kabira) i think are sex without being married, sharing someone as partners with allah, etc

    The minor ones I think are lying, stealing, basically everything else that isn't a major sin.

    Mo must've left a hadith saying which sins are major and which are minor.

    I tried, and I found a list of sins. I found 70 major sins (ouch!) but no minor sins.

    there is a difference between the kaba2ir sins and the minor ones ..

    the list of major sins includes (but is not limited to) the following acts:

    •Worshiping others, or associating partners with Allah (shirk)
    •Believing in superstition, fortune telling and astrology
    •Using magic or sorcery
    •Committing murder
    •Committing suicide
    •Bearing false witness
    •Committing adultery or fornication
    •Cheating, stealing, and lying
    •Charging or paying interest or usury (riba)
    •Consuming pork or alcohol
    •Consuming the wealth of an orphan
    •Not fasting for Ramadan
    •Not observing daily prayers
    •Not paying zakat (annual charity)
    •Gambling
    •Oppression and unjust leadership
    •Bribery, betraying trusts and breaking contracts
    •Backbiting and slandering
    •Breaking the ties of kinship
    •Disobeying or not honoring one's parents

    minor sins are everything else... including breathing the effin wrong way...

    Thats the thing. When I found out all my minor sins were forgiven during that fast, I was not happy. Who cares if all my minor sins were wiped out. I still have a shit load of major sins which are almost impossible to wipe off! finmad

    Cool, you're sounding like a muslim dude! Why do you care if your major sins get wiped off or not, since none of those things are really sins and no one is really about to punish you over those.

    lol, Yup, I was very Salafi like. Its just that the whole "only minor sins forgiven" thing peeved me off so bad when I was Muslim. It was a pain to get rid of the big stuff. Only real way is to go to Hajj or fast Ramadan PERFECTLY. It made me feel depressed. lol

    Reminds me of what Yusuf Estes said that when you convert all your sins are forgiven and you have a clean slate - if that is the case then why not live a debaucherous life and then do the shahada on the death bed?

    Because it's possible that you'll die without warning.
    So the best would be apostatizing and reconverting daily/weekly Tongue

    So at worst you'll have a day or a week of accumulated sins ^_^
    Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.

    Not quite. The Catholics have mortal and venial sins.

    There is always general absolution and 'the last rite' when you're on the death bed - hence it is one of the many issues I have with Christianity.

    Jeez. How come I missed that one during my musulman days? What could be the reason for that rule anyways? Another one of Mo's OCD symptoms being emulated by the pious musulman?

    When I asked a Muslim friend of mine I was told that it's halal.
    It's not kosher though.
